992 Carrera T Club
I'm at week 3+ from the Jacksonville port in Florida for delivery. This is what I got from my SA as of this morning…
”We don’t have an update yet we hope on Monday but it appears every Volkswagen product in the United States is being held at port, so Bentley , Audi Volkswagen, Porsche Lamborghini. I will keep you updated on what’s going on as we hear something.” - Anyone else hear this?
Other seem to get theirs right away after docking.

You know my thoughts, I think your SA is full of it! He just keeps giving you one excuse after another. FYI, Your car has not been at port for three weeks. The ship did not come into Port Jax until January 4th and was not unloaded until January 5th. They did not go through U.S. customs until Monday, January 8th. That was 11 days ago. Our cars rode over together on SIEM Confucius, both offloaded at Port Jax, yet mine has been in a garage now for eight days.
Edit: FYI, SIEM Confucius departed Emden on the night of December 5th.

I picked mine up last month. Sold off my ‘09 C4S and got this after many months wait for an allocation.
I got it in time to put 200 miles on it before putting it in winter storage. Come on spring!

Explanation seems odd, but not every car goes through as quickly as yours. Check the Benicia thread. Had guys seriously frustrated because their cars had been stuck at port for 30 plus days. Mine came in after, was delayed just 1 week and delivered to dealer. No good explanations on these delays, and often dealer doesn’t have any good info. Very frustrating part of the delivery process for sure.

Hi all - I am jumping on to announce the end of my lurkerhood. So I figure a little intro is in order after reading so much from all of the participants here. Background - I went to test drive a python green PDK dealer spec T at local dealer and simply felt it, the first time since my E36 M3 (man I loved that thing) that a car just felt part of me. I talked to wife and she hated the color and said fine but why not order a better color with the spec you want? I really wanted MT so this was wonderful but I truly figured that would also be impossible without markup I wouldn’t pay. Of course I asked… and got a spot the next day for no ADM (not an existing customer, first Porsche). I don’t want to wish away any of my remaining days, but these ones? Let them pass quickly!
I’ve read the entire T thread and really appreciate all the knowledge folks have been sharing. Heck I feel like I know some of you guys at this point ( @Macboy @Uhu @Wilder @ECNJ @AdamIsAdam @tourenwagen @Devon Racer @Icegrill @Vernin @TUD @Barkat03 among many, many others). In the process of all that reading my my build has changed about 500 times and my wife and kids, while excited, are tired of our evening “I have a really important question… do you like THIS color of tach with THAT stitching?” conversations!
I’m currently DD’ing a ‘16 downpiped, cat-deleted DME stage II tuned M5 Comp with Dual Clutch Transmission and really look forward to returning to a light, responsive MANUAL transmission sports car vs my current 750 hp crazy-pants, light ‘em up, murderous bahnburner. This will be my first 911 but I’ve been to porsche driving schools at Barber in AL a good number of times so am somewhat familiar with the platform and totally excited to soon own one. Like many, 911’s were formative in my youth - I’m 51 so for me it was first and always the 959 but also the 930, the Risky Business 928, my dad’s early 924, the 944 Turbo and later the 964 and 993’s especially. Every year I’d think “is this the time? Boxster? Cayman? 911?” Now my kids are older, I never have a car full anymore, I checked off the m5 from my must have before die list and so “it’s time”. Fortunately my wife agreed! She’s great about my car toys and has indulged me in other silly motorized projects. I plan to DD (I do have some other vehicles for more people or inclement weather) and track and autocross a few times a year around Texas, would also like to swing some longer road trips if I can convince my bride (we DO have very different attitudes about the car experience, she’s all about grandma speed). I’m also really excited to teach my two teens to drive manual, will be different in this versus the ‘79 280ZX on which I learned!
So the build:
- gentian blue (had loved PG and SB, but late to the party)
- MT
- standard rims because I love the agate/titanium T theme
- standard front and rear fasciae
- executive rear lights
- PDLS+ (less white, matrix overkil@Macboy )
- 18 ways (51 YO ex-rower, back), wife drives MT so I really hope she takes her out some too
- Slate T interior (god I love that green but don’t think it is a lay down with the gentian, maybe color and spec expert @Macboy can confirm!)
- rear seat add because wife hopes 17 YO and 14 YO would get back there!
- all the extra leather
- all the racetex
- CF roof because I like it (and ethos, lol)
- Bose
- FAL - Trying to get in a buddy’s 911 and tackle my awful driveway soon to decide if I can kill FAL but my M5 scrapes pretty much every time I enter/exit and I may just have to have it
- RAS is my big open item - no need to reopen THAT debate. Every argument y’all have makes me change my mind!
- given that I’ve tuned or engine swapped about everything I’ve had, I anticipate doing some things to this one because I just can’t help myself (Hi @tourenwagen ). Already have GT3 skirts, a sportshifters shiftknob and some other goodies en route!
I lock end of February and it seems I may be among the later expected deliveries with current forecast being 5/26.
Thanks again to all on this board for their contributions, it’s really helped this noob in the Porsche process!

@CJDCREW lizard green stitching, belts and dials look killer against the gentian. Do it. Don’t be afraid. That’s was my exact set up before I got a PTS color allocation and I’m still keeping rhe green stitching. I love it also.

Interesting story about how you arrived at your decision.
My only comment is about RAS which you still have doubts about…. Get it (I didn’t) if for no other reason than improved manoeuvrability in tight spaces!
18 Ways are great - love ‘em!
FAL if you must but I won’t order it again next time.
Otherwise great choice👍👍

@CJDCREW welcome, big congrats, and good move! Gentian is probably my second favorite color on the 992 after black.
I find Gentian to be a classy color. I'd skip the Lizard interior and the Racetex in favor of Slate and leather which suit the vibe of the color a bit more. Gentian interior trim looks nice.
My car is lowered and traveling through San Francisco, Santa Barbara and now in LA, I've tackled some serious road angles without issue. I see no use for FAL unless you have an extreme gradient in your driveway.
RAS... if you're more digital than analogue, get it. If you're more analogue than digital, skip it. It's the simplest way to approach it without getting caught up in the minutia.
Unless your kids are on the shorter side, getting in the rear seats might be a short lived novelty thing.

@CJDCREW congrats and I too am a Genetian Blue manual order submitted this week and locking Feb.22nd with a March build date (I've told my dealer to lock it knowing orders seem to be moving up).
Your spec is great and for comparison I went with the following:
4-ways
Glass Sunroof
Race Tex GT wheel (changes the shifter too)
BOSE
RAS
Aerokit
Rear Seats (11 and 14 year olds)
Prep for Roof Transport (road and Mtb'r)
PDLS
90L tank
