992 Carrera T Club
Lightweight battery question...ANSWERED!!
Man the knowledge on this forum is just mindblowing. Is there a single question about 992's that has not been dealt with??
I can honestly say that there is nothing like this level of knowledge on any of the other (4) 911/Porsche forums I follow.
It's obv related to the fact that we've all bought the driving enthusiasts option, the T, when let's face it every one of us could easily have afforded an S etc.

I was planning to remove and rebuild the heads on my `64 GTO. Now understand, the car's paint was in better shape than my 2023 T is, so I posed the question to the forum of how do I get the extremely heavy heads off and out of the car without scratching the inner or outter fenders. Sure enough, some guy said he made a tool for the job! He just made basically a pair of handles out of metal that you can bolt onto the heads. This way you can grab the 50lb heads with two hands as you lean awkwardly over the fender, and remove them without dropping them and ruining a $10k paint job.Genius! But here's where it gets good. The guy said, just send me your address and I'll mail you the handles. Use them, then mail them back when you're done. WOW! He did. And I did. And I'm forever grateful!

I know one day I will try it out, It sure seems like a great way to wake up in the morning.
Wake up climb out of your tent on your Porsche 911, sit down at your fire pit and Look at your car with the scenic backdrop of pine trees, and the mountains. Would be pretty sweet

I would like an S, but the waitlist for an allocation is absurd. I am thrilled to have scored a T allocation and only over the course of a few months.
Have you ever been involved in an old car forum? I've owned several Pontiacs over the years, GTO's/LeMans, etc. Those old-school guys are in a league of their own. Not only do they know every crazy detail, and I mean EVERY detail about how to rebuild, repair and maintain their cars, but they are generally just a helpful bunch. Here's a story that I'll share:

This can be found here on RL too. From personal experience, in the 993 sub where I got started and racked up most of my posts. In the 997 GT3 sub where I spend time too. I've most recently posted on the 911 sub and the 996 sub and found that same level of knowledge and camaraderie. Even the 991 forum has it. Aside from this fine thread, I find the 992 and 992 GT subs overweight on malignant a**holes with just about zero knowledge about Porsche, 911s, and cars in general.

Do it. The RTT is about getting out and road tripping. You can do that with any car. Putting it on a 911 is about making the most of it and having entertainment while you travel from one place to another. I'm not inclined to do traditional camping in it and view it more as sleeping quarters but do know some people who take a small stove and other camping gear in their 911.
You have a great deal of storage behind the seats and frunk, so road-tripping and staying in your camper overnight even if it is at a small paved campground as you travel has to be a pretty surreal experience.
