Devon Racer, it must be heart wrenching, but the good news is there is no structural damage.
They can easily replace both fenders and lights, and nobody will ever know. Naturally they would have to compensate you for it!
An alternative is rather underwhelming, unless you go BIG
PS. Just read your earlier post… new 992 T allocation it is!
I was worried that new allocations are uncertain, with imminent release of 992.2

Battle scars
Is there a greater abomination than a road resurfaced with fresh oil and pea gravel? On my route to my typical back roads loop this morning I unfortunately came across this monstrosity of road resurfacing in Minnesota, which unfortunately, seems to be more and more common. My PPF took some battle damage, but my shields held and should be OK since I reduced speed driving through this stretch of hell. Ironically, I have mud guards on order, but haven’t yet received/installed them. I hope in the future, they could mitigate some damage to the PPF. I do look at the PPF on my cars as a consumable and I have it just for these type of unexpected occasions.
However, the lightweight glass windshield did not survive the encounter. A truck was coming in the opposite lane and flung up a pebble with deadly accuracy and put an immediate 6 inch crack in the window that further expanded to 16 inches as I finished the drive. Fortunately, all of this is covered under my comprehensive auto insurance, however, some numbers for everyone just out of interest. The lightweight glass windshield is $2820, recalibration of sensors at the dealership around $1700 and labor to install is around $600. Windshields are about 4 weeks out according to parts. I don’t think any windshield would have successfully survived this rock, so I don’t really blame it on being lightweight glass, however, I am aware on the GT forums of past issues, so it will be interesting to see how this all pans out in the future. I have read about some people putting film across the glass to help mitigate rock impacts. Has anyone had any success with that?

I am so sorry this has happened, though I guess you can still drive the car with this crack, or is that illegal in the US?
There is a parts issue with quite long time frames hence my decision not to repair my damaged car.
I think Porsche need all the parts they can get for production cars not for spares.
Good luck and sympathy.
PS: Pivot thanks for your kind words. much appreciated,

I do have another vehicle I can put into service while I wait for the new windshield since I’d like for it to not get any bigger in the meantime. The dealership is about 100 miles from where I live so I’ll need to get it up there for the repair and recalibration. Should be okay for that—I think!

Bought this from Autozone a couple months ago, works like a charm and folds small enough to put in the glovebox. https://www.autozone.com/interior-de...ece/936968_0_0

Hey guys!! I could not be more stoked to make this post. After being a lifelong Porsche fan, and having previously owned both a 928 and a 996 40th anniversary car, I've submitted a deposit and received allocation for a new 992 Carrera T.
The next few months will be a brutal wait but I'm excited to join the club with you all!

I added windshield film. It saved my Cayman when that took a direct hit.

When you receive an allocation you receive all applicable dates (freeze, build date, ship, port arrival date, dealership arrival date) once you get a TYD link from Porsche. I got my allocation 12/22/22; put final build in 12/23, built 3/23, received 4/27/23

Yes! It’s pretty cool. My freeze keeps changing give or take a month. Probably the summer break.
