Don’t see why not, checked and the gel coating is on the inside, outside is glass, apart from the windscreen I spray autoglym aqua wax on the rest and it beads real nice.

I went back and forth on this option and here not sure if I could have gotten it anyway. My build was submitted several weeks ago and locked this past Friday so I might have been able to as it looks like the stop sale is for newer orders.

However, while I didn’t get to test the option and like RAS this is a must have and leave off depending on who you talk to, my decision to leave it off was:

1. Most of what I heard is that it was not that noticeable a difference.

2. I listen to music enough but don’t expect concert hall acoustics in a car that the music will overcome some of the road noise anyway.

3. My hearing isn’t the greatest, so how much am I going to improve my experience.

But most importantly my SA said these three things:

1. His experience was that it was not that noticeable. Nice. But not a must have option.

2. Replacement is somewhat more expensive and where I live we get chipped / cracked windshields and have to replace them.

3. Getting a replacement of this glass may be more difficult due to supply.

Having said that there are those who rave about it, and unfortunately I was not able to test drive a car with it.

Your choice of course and noise tolerance is always highly subjective. I suspect some of those who say they don't notice a difference have not lived with this glass extensively or have only experienced it on a test drive. Being one who actually does have this glass on my new 2021 C4S and is now living with it, I DO notice a significant difference compared to 992's I have driven without it. With this glass and tires set at comfort inflation levels, I now get a range of 73-77 decibels in the cabin (averaged) as opposed to 77-80+ I was testing on vehicles without. (And the Bay Area has horrible roads) Sure there are some roads where the in-cabin noise is higher at speed, but it's internal road/tire noise. It's that balance that has more noticeably changed.

Well, as of this morning, with the launch of the 2022 Configurator, the question of whether or not one should option the Noise Cancelling Glass has been put to rest.
It is no longer available. For those who were able to get it, you folks have very rare builds!

This is terribly disappointing. I’m extremely sensitive to road noise and ordering this car without the acoustic glass was a nonstarter. Anyone know why they decided to nix this option?

You’re extremely sensitive to road noise and buying a sports car with 305s out back? Maybe get an S Class?

Can still option it on the Turbo S

Comes standard on GT3 but you lose sound deadening with the GT3

I am so glad I was able to get this option. Other than the noise reduction which I do find noticable subjectively as well as with a dB meter, the slight weight renduction where it realy maters (up high), something not often noticed is the absence of visible rear window defoger wires.

I’ve got the LWNIG and a heated rear screen.... 2021 992 C4S coupe.

Would take a picture but the dealer has it for rattles, will take a picture later of the filaments in the glass

Here ya go. I put these out on another thread. The hard part is getting the camera angle such that it catches the filaments so they can be seen.

Has anyone recently taken delivery or has one "on the boat" with the Noise Insulated Glass? The reason I ask is that I have a C2S on order with that option. Originally V200 in mid January with planned production March 9. In Canada we don't seem to get TYD, just the 4 "phase" part on My Porsche.
The Sales Manager called Germany and was told the order is now waiting for "a part" and delayed planned production is now April 30.
If the delay is for the now discontinued Glass option I would have deleted it.
Anyhow, wondering if I'll actually eventually get my car with "the glass" even though it is no longer available for the 2S

I deleted it from my build (locked last week for 21MY) for this very reason. I was told it would be okay, but didn’t want to risk delaying the car.

mine is scheduled for production April 23rd with the lightweight glass option.
I haven’t been notified of any delays. Fingers crossed.
