I haven’t been notified of any delays. Fingers crossed.
I have a C2S on the boat now headed to RI that has the glass option. Start production was 3/15/21. I never received any info that the option was deleted from my build so I assume it's on the car.

My C2S has a "start production" date of April 16 and I have also ordered the noise insulating glass. I have not heard anything from Porsche or my dealer about a delay. Holding my breath.

I can understand some older buyers looking for additional sound reduction in a land yacht Mercedes or Cadillac but not in a high performance sports car.

No one likes wind and tyre noise in any street car. The glass is also lighter than standard so how's this a bad thing to order for a sports car again?

I always cringe when I read these kind of posts ..."not in a sports car".... that is just BS - for many folks, a 911, is a daily driver.

I'm coming from a 991.1 GT3 which is a fantastic "sports car", but the road/tire noise made it very difficult for a daily driver. My new C2s will also be a daily driver so it would be nice to have it a bit quieter even though it will never be on the level of our other "normal vehicles"

He just tries to stir people up. Ignore him.

Probably nothing to get upset about. Sorry for the "not in a sports car" reference. It has been my life with these kind of cars where they were a third or fourth vehicle and not even close to a daily driver. I really question how much actual weight savings and sound reduction is realized with this optional glass.
I just don't get the ultra quiet sports thing, oh well, we all have our personal preferences I guess.

The Sales Manager called Germany and was told the order is now waiting for "a part" and delayed planned production is now April 30.
If the delay is for the now discontinued Glass option I would have deleted it.
Anyhow, wondering if I'll actually eventually get my car with "the glass" even though it is no longer available for the 2S
Yes, C2S w/ glass option on the boat now. Build completed 3/19/2021. (although my order was commissioned over 6 months ago)

Ummm....the glass makes almost zero difference to the amount of tire, road or engine noise in the car because these sound are not transmitted through the windows. It is transmitted into the car via the chassis/body. If you want a significantly quieter car internally, just get someone to put some additional sound proofing under the carpet and the rear trim. Now, that makes a difference. Sound insulation glass does not. It only improves wind noise from the mirrors, etc.

Chris, do you have the glass?

I do. No difference to engine noise, tyre noise, but does reduce the noise from the mirrors when closed.
Reduces noise from traffic next to you or coming from the other direction...

Note.... wife’s macan turbo has acoustic glass, two panes with gel layer sandwiched in the middle..... running 21s and air suspension... no road noise, no whistles, engine quiet on a cruse..... 911 not so much. It’s the way they are built, no way a 911 can be quiet, you trade sound deadening for a better drive.
