Default Lightweight and Noise Insulated Glass option

Has anyone experienced this option? I am considering adding it on a base Carrera or Carrera S order. There will be times when I would like the interior of the car to be as quiet as possible.

Does this option make a difference in the noisiness (as experienced from inside) the car?

Thanks.

Just picked mine up today with the Noise and Insulated Glass option. I am really glad I ordered the Quiet Glass. It definitely works and it works extremely well. I have a fairly good dB Meter and this Porsche is favorably comparable (same dB range on the same road) to my Grand Cherokee and that is actually a fairly quiet car. Maximum seen on heavily rain grooved and construction equipment damaged freeway road surface was 75 dB. For those in Southern California I'm referring to the 405 through Huntington Beach. Otherwise mid to high 60's on smooth asphalt. I'll capture a graph tomorrow and post it in comparison to one or two my other cars. It's definitely quieter than my wife's maximum option equipped Honda CRV. Not a very high bar to meet, but never-the-less, nothing like the 911's without the quiet glass we test drove on the same roads.

My dealer who indicated the difference is barely perceptible and discouraged ordering it. Nor did they have decibel level stats.
Went with the dealers advice and did include it on the inbound C2S.

Also 8 pounds lighter than the stock glass. Less weight and less external noise.

what kind of decibel level difference ? My dealer cannot even tell me a whole lot on how effective this option really is. No technical literature can be found.

All I have is empirical data. I drove a 2020 4s and was a little surprised at the wind and road noise that filtered into the cabin. I hear very little external noise in my 2021. For comparison, I have an E63S AMG and the interior noise level is much closer to what I hear in it. For me, it is definitely worth the $1250. If road noise and weight is a concern, get it. If the cost is a concern then don't.

Looks like we have the same vehicles in our garage. I have 18 E63S wagon and I am ok with the noise level.

on the same roads? Road noise in these cars is extremely variable depending on the road surface.

Yes. I drive the same roads all the time. Wind noise is not road dependent.

I didn’t order it. I was told there was little difference and that it tended to interfere with cell reception.

Wanted to order but (unfortunately) not available on the Targa I have coming. Many Porsches thoroughly enjoyed, I never found wind noise an irritant - but rather tire roar (on my 911s) as being my primary beef. First reading about this, I was optimistic and hoping this would help but well......now going to plan B on the Targa...so thinking of doing a Dynamat install over the wheel wells (under the carpet OR in the wheel liners)...but will be doing something - unless the 992 is such an evolution it doesn't set me off. But to the spirit of the thread, I thought LWG as it was described to me would help and I would have ordered it for +- $ 1,250.00 no question.

Anybody done Dynamat or Soundskin install? - or have any tire roar ideas - or the 992 isn't an issue and not to worry. I will put Dynamat in my GT3 Touring because I want to improve the sound of the Bose sound system but would be interested if anyone has done anything with the 992.
