I agree with rk-d and Russian Mafia. 1) this is extremely common and expected use of the vehicle. Wouldn't be surprised if a majority of people do it. 2) it's unreasonable to expect a consumer to foresee this result. The defacation example is not comparable - not an expected use case, reasonable for consumer to expect the result.

Isn't this the same glass that's on the GT3? Seems like this should be a known issue. Or if it's different glass, then perhaps Porsche doesn't even know.

The surprise for me is that the acoustic film isn't sandwiched between two panes of glass like normal safety glass. That's how the noise and thermally insulated glass in the Cayenne is produced. Here's an iPhone closeup of the drivers window:

I think that will make it heavier than regular automotive safety glass, and wouldn’t be “lightweight”.

I was thinking two skinny panes and then tint could be applied on the inside by the normal procedure. Oh well, Porsche knows best so one pane it is with the acoustic film on the inside

If this is truly a new offering, then I wouldn't be surprised if the tint issue is news to Porsche. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Some people require window tint for health reasons so at a minimum there needs to be a disclosure.

My 15 Macan Turbo has it as an option. I like it.
Here's what everyone needs to know - starting with the 2021 model year, every new car sold in the USA is required to have heat-reducing windows. ...for slightly better gas mileage and for slightly lower emissions, as the AC won't have to work as hard.
So the thermally insulating benefit is already there without any options for the 2021 models.
I have seen no PCNA mention or descriptions, but you can draw your own conclusions from here.

Now I’m only 500 miles in with the C4S, normal exhaust, Goodyear tyres that are too hard. Does the insulated glass I spec’d make a difference?

Pretty sure it keeps the outside noise outside, but the inside noise in.... including the tyre noise that rumbles through the car.

More testing this week now the snow has cleared

Thanks.
LIghtweight and noise insulated glass does not allow a rear windshield wiper. I have searched the internet for information about durability and resistance to scratching.
The only thing that can be deduced by the Windsheild Wiper option not allowed is that this glass is more likely to get damaged than regular glass.

Anybody have issues with the rear glass fogging in rainy weather?

I have lightweight glass and also had it tinted. No issues at all. My installer read the thread and reached out to the installer that had the issues. The key here is my installer uses the Xpel software to cut out the window tint before applying. The other installer cut it out manually and then filed the edge which caused the issue since it is a sandwich instead of one piece.

I do not have issues with the rear glass fogging and use the rear window defroster for snow and ice. It works just fine. I really love the reduction in road noise and the weight loss is just a bonus. I would not get a 911 without it. For me it is a must have option.
