The colors are different ship types. Green is cargo, red is a tanker, hot pink is a pleasure craft, blue is a passenger vessel. Maybe there are others but that's what I found :-)
I checked a transit site and it said about 10 days from Santa Marta to San Diego. If they leave tomorrow (the 27th) would make arrival to San Diego around the 6th, which is right in line with what TYD is showing (as of just now :-)
