Default Fidelity extended warranty pricing

Hello folks,

Thought I'd post this pricing schedule for a well-known, reliable reseller of Fidelity extended warranty products. I purchased the Wheel / Tire Premium plan for five year years for our new 992 Carrera S for US $1552, a savings of about $500 from what was offered at the dealer from whom we purchased the car, and another $400 from our preferred hoity-toity dealer in Dallas who will service our cars and from whom we purchased our 2019 Cayenne Turbo.

PM me if you're interested in contact info. He's a good guy and the real deal. No worries about the products he sells. FYI, the Fidelity Platinum listed is an exclusionary warranty, meaning everything on a given car is covered unless it's specifically excluded. Basically, it's an extension of the "bumper to bumper" factory Porsche warranty. I'll probably buy the $250 deductible, eight-year / 80K Platinum package in a few months, after I confirm our 992 is not a lemon-squeezed dud.

Vehicle: 2016 - 2020 Porsche 911 with less than 10,000 miles.

Fidelity Platinum Protection Plan:

With $0 deductible:
5 yr / 60K - $2128.00
5 yr / 100K - $3526.00
6 yr / 60K - $2376.00
6 yr / 100K - $4190.00
7 yr / 70K - $3106.00
7 yr / 100K - $4584.00
8 yr / 80K - $3766.00
10 yr / 100K - $5370.00

With $100 deductible:
5 yr / 60K - $2005.00
5 yr / 100K - $2815.00
6 yr / 60K - $2243.00
6 yr / 100K - $3355.00
7 yr / 70K - $2731.00
7 yr / 100K - $3784.00
8 yr / 80K - $3333.00
10 yr / 100K - $4468.00

With $250 deductible:
5 yr / 60K - $1782.00
5 yr / 100K - $2663.00
6 yr / 60K - $2032.00
6 yr / 100K - $3179.00
7 yr / 70K - $2637.00
7 yr / 100K - $3573.00
8 yr / 80K - $3183.00
10 yr / 100K - $4206.00

Wheel/tire plans are point of sale products that are only available at the time of sale of the vehicle. So I’d only be able to offer this if you’ve purchased the car within the last week or so and we backdate the paperwork to match.

Vehicle: 2016 - 2020 Porsche 911

Fidelity Road Hazard Wheel/Tire:

Deluxe plan:

7 years - $1650.00

6 years - $1527.00

5 years - $1366.00

4 years - $1334.00

3 years - $1208.00

Premium plan (includes cosmetic coverage for wheels)

7 years - $1886.00

6 years - $1741.00

5 years - $1552.00

4 years - $1524.00

3 years - $1368.00

Thanks for sharing. The extended warranty prices seem very reasonable for the coverage. I had a Fidelity Platinum plan on my 2015 Macan Turbo and it paid for itself within a year and half, so I’m a believer. Bought it after my factory warranty expired with just under 35k miles and am now waiting on my prorated refund since I no longer own the vehicle. I miss that car.

I also didn’t know Fidelity offered wheel/tire plans. If the plans my dealership offered were priced anywhere near the above, I definitely would have purchased either the 3 or 4 year plan as these big wide tires seem like they attract screws/nails. Matter of fact, I had a screw in the thick part of the tread in one of the rears (less than 500 miles) and fortunately, when the tire shop removed it, there was no leak since it was very short.

Question though, what’s the thought process on buying an 8 year plan now when it only really kicks in after 4 years or 48k miles?

Suggest do a search on the 991 forum where there is lots of information on this and the best place to purchase. This ground has been well plowed there. https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1124...-warranty.html

For a keeper car it sounds like a great deal. Or even if you plan on selling in 3-4 years, I bet it'd be a wash in terms of selling to a private party.

Unless someone is planning on driving more than 48k miles, why would an extended warranty be needed if selling within 3-4 years?

I’d be more likely to buy a car, or even pay a premium, for a car with an extended warranty. I suppose I could buy one myself, but if it’s already included it’s easier.

Excuse my ignorance, but does the extended warranty from Fidelity (or any 3d party) transfer to the new owner?

Good question—I don’t know, maybe JCWLS3 can weigh in. I have had extended warranties from other providers in the past and they have always transferred (which was the only reason I bought them).

Fidelity does transfer to the new owner or you can get a prorated refund upon selling.

Exactly right.

As to the question of whether to buy an extended warranty -- yes, it's been beaten to death elsewhere. You can find all sorts of info and opinions on Rennlist. I wanted to offer current pricing from a reputable, discount reseller for those who might be interested in keeping their late-model 911s past the factory four-year warranty period, and might want some piece of mind on repairs.

I agree that buying an extended warranty on a car that you're going to sell during the initial warranty period makes little sense. But for someone like me, who might end up keeping the car seven or eight years, the idea of dropping less than $3200 for an additional four years of bumper-to-bumper, direct-bill warranty service honored by nearly every Porsche dealer in the USA is compelling. YMMV.

By comparison, buying the same eight-year, 80K Fidelity Platinum warranty for our 2019 Cayenne Turbo costs over $6K. Fidelity knows how expensive the Cayenne is to repair, and how often it breaks down historically compared to the 911, and prices accordingly. As such, we'll be selling or trading that car before the factory warranty period ends. (Example: A last-gen Cayenne owner posted the cost of an air suspension repair on his 2013 Cayenne S with just 60K miles. It was $12K.)

I recently bought a Fidelity Platinum warranty from Troy Dietrich at Toyota of Greenfield. His price was 20% less than others I shopped. I have no affiliation, just a satisfied customer. Here’s Troy’s contact info:

+1 on Troy. I purchased the Fidelity warranty on my 2015 Macan from him and he was a pleasure to work with.

@JCWLS3 , my question wasn’t about whether to buy an extended warranty or not as I certainly appreciate the value of having one, it was why buy the warranty now (or soon) vs. closer to when the factory warranty is about to expire? Just wanted to understand your reasoning, that’s all.

Sorry, I misunderstood your question. My apologies.

The biggest (maybe only?) reason to buy an extended warranty early on is to lock in today's pricing. They go up every year as a general rule. You may notice the prices I listed were for a late-model 911 with less than 10,000 miles on the odo. That's as cheap as the pricing is going to get. As the cars age and the miles roll on, prices rise.

Also... since you guys already posted Troy's name and contact info: Yes, he's the guy. Wasn't sure if he wanted his info posted publicly, but since it's already out, contact info is below. Really good guy. Professional, quick to respond, courteous, and doesn't mind stupid questions, at least from me.

Silly question, does the 6 year 60k coverage start after the 2 year Porsche factory warrantee expires ?
So you are covered for 8 years in total ?
