So when I start my car in 5he garage, the homelink screen pops up on the main screen as expected. The problem is when I put the car in reverse the backup camera comes on in its place, thus when I back out of the garage I need to exit out of the backup screen and then go through the menus to find the homelink screen again, then of course I have to put the car in neutral and then back in reverse to bring the cameras back up to continuing reversing. Anyone have a solution to this incredibly annoying issue?

I am hoping for a rear view mirror home link retrofit.
I have the shortcut button on the steering wheel programmed for the park assist screen and one of them on the dash for the HomeLink screen to somewhat cure this problem. Poorest execution of HomeLink that I have ever seen in a car! I also keep a separate small garage door opener remote in the storage bin in place of the cup holder to avoid this as well.
I really like the idea of integrated homelink in the PCM, but agree the execution needs a pretty comprehensive rework. Hopefully coming in an update and have used one of the programmable buttons to activate in the meantime.
I have my garage door opener in an app on my phone. I've only had the car for a month, haven't driven it much because of snowy roads. I have no idea how to make Homelink work, goofed around with it for an hour today. Made zero progress.
Is this really the only way to open the garage door? I have a '19 Macan S, had a '15 Macan Turbo and was able to program them.
Sometimes an analog solution to a digital problem is the path of least resistance, because let's face it, you just want to easily open and close your garage door. I had a Mini cab that did not have a HomeLink system, and I bought a very inexpensive, and very small, spare garage opener. I used some velcro to attached it to the side of the center console, and then I moved it under the dash. Double sided tape and lightly chewed gum should also work. You couldn't see it, it never got in the way, and it was easy to use when needed. Do the same thing with your 992. This might not work for your brand of opener, but as you can see, they are small, and cheap.
Yeah I gave up on that. I have my lift master remote clipped to the visor. Who would've thought I'd have a manual garage opener in a 2020 model premium car! Ugh
Finally got my Homelink setup in the 911 only to find out it's completely useless. When I reverse I can't use Homelink (unless I stop using the backup camera)! Who came up with this design?! They should at least have a software button that lets you activate the Homelink profiles when the backup camera is activated...
I guess I will have to order one of these until Porsche fixes this:

Porsche created a solution for a problem that didn't exist. The physical buttons in the 991.1 and 991.2 (as well as many other cars) simply work.
I fought this battle for the first month with the car. Reverse, back out of garage, disengage reverse to eliminate the backup camera, Homelink to close garage door, engage reverse again.......,I now have the "clicker" in my door pocket.
