Took it out last night and absolutely have the same experience cruising (slight incline) at 70 mph which is the 1500 rpm range. Clearly we have a similar issue.

Random confirmation bias risk - but my C2S has Sport Package, PDCC and RWS, yours?

No RAS. Don't think that's part of the problem since one of the ones I compared off the lot was a RAS car. It was totally smooth and quiet.

I never drive in normal mode because I feel the engine lugs around.. the other day I was going 42mph and in 8th gear, at 1100 rpm... it's crazy, and probably might cause pre-ignition,.

The noise/vibration I have occurs in any gear. It is most obvious under load in higher gears, but even under light acceleration as I sequentially pass through 1500 rpm as gear changes occur, it is there and quite obvious.

likewise - any gear - the 1500rpm resonance is reproducible with slight acceleration pressure equivalent to holding speed on an incline.

I also swear that coasting, at very low speeds (5mph), in slight but smoothly rolling bumps in parking lots (think smooth expansion joints), I can hear a residual rattling - but not the resonance.

@eagle1960 have you had any luck finding/fixing the 1500 rpm rattle? I'm not paying quite as much attention to mine - but it is still something I would like to fix.

Noticed the same thing at extremely low revs on our 700-mile C2S when driving in Normal drive mode, or Individual which includes that plus PSE. Vaguely annoying, but not to the point it registers enough to take the car in. I just flick a quick downshift via left paddle shifter. Or even better, as other posters have mentioned, just say to myself, "Eff it," and roll the car into Sport Mode.

Frankly, the car seems much happier in Sport than it ever does in Normal. The 992 apparently does not approve when we dawdle around like it's a four-cylinder Camry. Maybe the resonance is a not-so-subtle reminder to cut it out and DRIVE.

I don't have any rattles like thisin my car. But I would swear that when I switch the engine off, I can hear a sound coming from back there that sounds just like the dial tone of a landline telephone.

Unfortunately no. The Porsche tech hears what I am talking about, but doesn't think it's a big problem. I think the real issue is that he doesn't know what it is and doesn't know how to track it down. Also, very disappointed in the Porsche zone guy who was supposed to take a ride with me .He's told the service mngr that if the tech doesn't think it's a problem, he's not going to take the time to look into it.
I am going to eventually get to another dealer about an hour away. Before that I am going to get it on my own lift and do what I can to look for any obvious possibilities.

Thanks @eagle1960. I continue to visualize mine as a pipe with a rod in the center rattling around.at 1500 rpm. My dealer still has a ticket open on my problem - but until take it in again I won’t make any progress. They were as unconcerned as yours seems to be.

Yes! My wife and I heard this sound very definitely in a 2020 C2S 7MT we test-drove a few months ago, to the point that we brought it up to the salesman. He looked at us like we were crazy.

I occasionally hear a more muffled version in our PDK. Sort of an electronic-tone noise coming from the back, straight out of the 1980s. Not annoying, just baffling and a little interesting.

Thanks for posting this. Thought my wife and I were both goofy.

Brand new (<1000 mile) C2 Cab and I've been hearing something similar. It's closer to a buzz than a rattle, almost a vibration, and only right from a launch/low speed. Usually requires a bit of acceleration too, can't really reproduce just idling around that speed. It's almost like it requires something to be slightly torqued under load, and then goes away.

Yes. Mine requires load to make the noise. It is easy to demo by using manual mode and driving up an incline where the rpms can be held around 1500. As I add enough throttle to accelerate through 1500, the noise occurs and if there is constant load like on an incline the noise continues as long as I hold about 1500 rpm. I've found it is temperature related as it really isn't present until oil temperature gets to around 100F.

Took mine in for service and the dealer confirmed they can hear it. We then reproduced it on another c2s off the lot but it was more muted. The dealer claimed it might be exhaust or turbo sounds and offered to keep the car and attempt to disassemble in an exploratory search. Given that it was also present on the other car I decided to keep my car intact and deal with it for now and hope that Porsche finds and issues a recall. For now I will just consider this a slightly annoying part of the 992 character like the HomeLink interface.
