I wonder when the GTS will be released. I plan to go car shopping at the end of the month and I keep telling myself that I'll be happy with "just" a 4S. But maybe if I wait a little bit longer...

The gts will have the same 3.0 as they've done in the 991.2 GTS

Is that an educated guess or you have information?

The GTS is a slightly dressed up Carrera S, it has very little in common with the GT cars and Porsche does not pretend otherwise.

Ding ding ding! I agree with you. I think the new 4.0 would be great in a 911T. With the cylinder de-activation, emissions compliance, and other lengths they went to make that motor future compliant - I can't see porsche not putting this motor in more models. (which manual would go with it - 7 speed pdk based manual, or the 6 speed gt dept manual, hmm?)

PS - whatever it is, that may be my favorite green

With the 718 GTS, you do get a GT4 engine...

The GTS Range is being redefined to be more than it has been in the past.

won t take much, in the recent past has been nothing
but the GT letters in the GTS badge

anyway from the spy pics is not a naturally aspirated GT engine with 4 seats nor the suspensions

maybe because we don t have the 992 GT2 (yet?) this 992 GTS is still missing the GT side of its GTS badge

at least the 718 GTS has a GT4 engine

I think the 992 GTS will have 3.8 TT which comes from Turbo (but I didn’t even remember that this is also similar to the GT2RS motor)

Turbo S has the same bumper as the carrera PSE version in some spy pics. So the 3.8 looks easily concealable in a gts.

Why would they put the Turbo engine in the GTS when history shows they put a slightly uprated S engine, with marginally larger turbos and minimal horse power increase of circa 30hp?

Remember the GTS is significantly cheaper then a similarly specd Carrera S.

The cost of manufacturer alone of the Turbo engine would mean the economics of this don't add up.

Is this the same body as the S and 4S or width of turbo?

That’s the whole point is that they’re redefining the GTS.

Why would they use the Turbo motor in the Panamera and Macan GTS’s rather than tuned S motors like before? Why did 718 Boxster and Cayman GTS’s get GT4 motor instead of tuned S motor like before?

The cost of manufacture of the 3.8TT is substantially similar to that of the 3.0TT. Only the motor used in GT3 and GT3RS and Speedster costs much more to build than the rest (including GT2 RS).

I dont see why not? It would have better throttle response and low boost, awesome for the 992 gen if you ask me. The 3.8 isnt a new engine like the GT4 4.0. And theyre going to be using that in a production cayman. Also a modest spec 992 C2S costs way more than a fully loaded GT4. 992 GTS will be almost into 991.2 turbo $$ territory with 200 less hp than the 992 turbo S if they use the 3.0. They almost have to use the 3.8 to command a base price in the 140s. The profit margins arent that small. They should totally do it, but Im not optimistic

I would take a hard look at it if they did something bold like this. What I think will happen is that they will turn up the boost a little on the 3.0L Carrera S, and charge $150K. Lame. No thanks.
