Newbie here. Looking for a base 911 to purchase. Sorry about posting here because the forum won’t allow me to post a new thread - but my question is - it’s usually better to outright finance a Porsche instead of lease it first and then purchase it? Is that correct?

also, are dealers more likely to discount a car that you order, or one that they already have in stock?

is the max 5% discount true for cars on the lot only? Or also for ordered cars?

It’s better to buy, but I am leasing. It’s worth the extra bucks for me.

Has anyone ordered a custom MY21 in the last month and been able to get a discount? If so, mind sharing which dealership and the size of the discount? My local dealership in Minnesota is only offering MSRP. Trying to figure out whether this is just a bad offer (because I'm willing to travel for a significant price break) or whether it accurately reflects the state of the market given COVID's impact to production. Any real, recent data would be appreciated.

I just spoke with my sales guy two days ago in Redwood City CA, and he said they are VERY reluctant to give discounts on 21s now as they took too much of a loss for the MY 20 year..

Yeah, I can believe that. Looks like my timing isn't great.

I was able to find 2 dealers in the northeast offering 7% (NYC) and 7.15% (NJ) on my C2S $150k build. I had to pull out last minute so these discounts are up for grabs. Let me know if anyone's interested and I can pass their info over.

You should be aiming for 7-8%+ on a Carrera or Carrera S...Targa and Turbo will be different. PM me if you'd like some help getting 7-8%+.

Gotta love life in Canada. Couldn't do better than 2% on a C2S...

I think if I ordered at 2% in CAD, I'd still come out ahead compared to the 8% USD! I emailed a Canadian dealer about ordering a new car once, and they were definitely not happy to help.

Yup! Pay ADMs in Canada and you'll still come out ahead: the 992 Turbo S retails for $203,500 in the US, but only CA$231,700 (= US$171,435) in Canada.

True, but we also get paid/make money in CAD.

Just got my allocation and was able to get 3.5% off after a bit of back and forth on a MY21 Carrera S build. However allocations are pretty scarce and my dealer had to trade for one and they only had two open ones avail. A turbo and a base Carrera.

Yes I've never bought a car at MSRP and my last car..and Audi RS5 I go close to 8% off at ask....not so with 992; dealer in my area is the only one for hundreds of miles literally and so can sell pretty much all they get at or close to MSRP. Glad to get my above percent off. Its like real estate...location...location matters as well as clientele/market.

Supply and demand as well; it's pretty clear now that VW has pulled back production of Porsche's, supply over the next couple of years is not going to be what it was over the last few.
