992 Saggy Seat Bottoms
#76
Depends on how thick your wallet is..... $$$$$$$ = thicker wallet. $$ = thinner wallet. I suspect most Porsche owners have the former.

Its not just the 992. From the Cayenne forum. Multiple cases of the Porsche droop. It seems obvious that it’s a manufacturing defect. Same location, and same pattern in all cases.

As noted up thread, I have seen stories that the cooled seats are also less comfortable than the non cooled ones, because of a membrane installed in the seat bottom for the cooling. Since the cooled seat is part of the premium package, some bloggers were saying to break those other options out individually to avoid the cooled seat, even if it costs more.

I agree ventilated seats feel harder than those without that feature. But mine softened enough after a few months and were fine even on longer drives. One benefit of the ventilated seat may be less sagging. I had 2018 Boxster with ventilated 14 ways which I just sold and the ventilated seats had virtually no sagging. I did get some holes clogged with schmutz occasionally but that blast of cool air on my backside on hot days made it worthwhile and why I included them in my C2S manual build, which is due at my dealer on June 6.

How is all this even acceptable on a $150k+ car?
My M3 with 60k KM on it has perfectly tight, smooth side bolsters and seat bottoms.
Clearly Porsche is penny-pinching here, likely as a volume group buy or design with others in the VAG group.
I agree we should be allowed to de-couple features like ventilated seats from the Premium package, without penalty.

Has anyone had any luck getting the dealer to repair / replace this under warranty?

I have had the leather seat covering replaced due to a manufacturing defect from when the car was delivered (bad seam). The first one sent from Germany didn’t fit (apparently takes a day to install as entire seat needs to be removed from car). So they took everything apart to find out it didn’t work. Waited another 4 weeks for a replacement and now having issues with that one (both install and quality). My recommendation is if it doesn’t impact comfort of seat leave it alone, just not worth the hassle (mine did impact comfort of seat as the seam was sticking out and you felt it & that side of seat still doesn’t feel right after replacement).

Not that many people have weighed in on this issue. Could those with 18 way ventilated seats advise if your seats have this problem? It will also help to advise when you got your car, as it is possible that Porsche has already addressed the problem in production.
