992 Winter Wheels/Tires

Just diagnosed a nail as the culprit in my brand new tires (literally probably only have 35 miles on them), and it's about 1/2" from the inside sidewall, so likely not repairable. I called few places to take a look but the pauses I received on the phone after sharing the tire size was enough to make me bite the bullet and order a new tire from my local Porsche dealer. The Michelin's are on back-order but should have it by the end of the week.
This will turn out to be a very expensive nail...

I have been driving it through the winter since November without any problem. I have no idea why the dealer told you this won't work, base on what? Size, offset, TPMS....etc. I have done a lot of research and calculation 295/35/20 even has a closer diameter to the OEM rear 305/30/21 than the manufacturer suggest 295/30/21.

Since Nokian doesn't make anything for the 992s (my go to winter tire for the past 40 years), does Blizzak offer anything? Does anyone offer anything studded for 20/21 or even 19/20?

The dealer will tell you (and anyone else) that the square setup does not work. But it DOES. For some reason Porsche can't seem to figure out that you can run a non staggered setup on these as long as the overall circumference does not change.
My dealer went to far as to say they will void my warranty. Complete idiots.

Looks like there is another option for winter tires. These are getting some great reviews. Sizes below.

With all due respect, Vreds are NOT deep winter tires; well not for up here anyway (avoiding a discussion of what "deep" and"winter" is)

Thanks Siberian. So you would not put these in the same category as the Michelin PA5s, for example?

Personally I wouldn't buy anything but Nokian Hakka studded; alas, none are available for the 992s.
A couple of years ago when test driving for VW/Audi up here we had a customer request to test Vreds on an Audi RS7. I wouldn't say dismal, but I sure wouldn't want them on my Touareg or Audi.
From what I read, and as my 992 will be driven year round, and having to chose between Pirelli Sotto Zero and Michelin, the consensus favored Michelin Alpin which is what I went with.

Did you notice any slapping over rough surfaces or inordinate damage as these are shown as run flats? Had low profile run flats on BMW 335 (Turbo engine) and hated, a strong word I know, every minute of driving on them. Multi instances of tire, wheel and suspension component damage and swore id never drive on low profile run flats again.

In fact, I’d say I actually prefer the drive on these tyres compared to the summer tyres (Goodyear Eagle F1) that came on my car. They’re quieter, more compliant over rough surfaces and provide excellent grip.
My son had run flat tyres on his Mini and I agree, they’re awful... so much so that he changed over to Winter tyres and kept them on the car pretty much all year round.
