I have the PA5’s and highly recommend them. If you can get a set of 19/20 that would be ideal but then you need wheels. The aftermarket pricing for a 19/20 set is about $25-2800. Usually you find PA4 on the 19/20’s as well.

Also, since you are running a C2S overall diameter still matters in so far as keeping your Speedo matching but less critical for drivability. You should be fine with the 245/295 20’s...

If you are in Toronto PM me I can send you a couple places to look.

Cheers!
Hey thanks a lot for the info. I will send you a PM.

I highly recommend these tires. The dealer is storing my summer tires until Im ready to mount them in April. This makes so much more sense than buying a set of wheels but to each their own. The dealer even beat Tire Rack's pricing before shipping.
You mounted the PA5a on on the factory wheels? I may have to do the same if I can't find any wheels.

  2. Michelin PA5 seem to be the popular choice, are the PA4 comparable? Or a significant downgrade?
  3. Michelin PA5 vs Continental WinterContact TS 860 S (Conti are the ones o the Porsche 19/20 set)
1) 245/30/20 should match OEM in front. 295/35/20 would be correct to match OEM diameter in the rear.
2) The PA4 is the older design and completely different. However I have read just as great of reviews of these. However I have no first hand knowledge.
3) I would do the PA5s for sure given the choice.

I did. Factory 20/21 Carrera Classics. My Porsche dealer installed and mounted.

Over time it beats up your wheels as guys changing tires aren't always the most cautious.

If they scratch the observable part of your wheels you’ll see it when you pick up the car and they’ll have to replace it. If they damage the TPMS the PSI won’t show up correctly and they’ll have to replace it. If they dent the wheel you’ll feel it on the way home and you go back and they’ll have to replace it. What else could they do to your wheels that would impact performance. My dealer used to make a big thing about having a new complete tire set until I didn’t want to spend an additional $5-7k on decent looking winter set. I watched the guy change my summers this year to winter on my spider wheels and it’s not rocket science. If you want to spend the money on new wheels it makes it easier to swap them but otherwise it’s not at all necessary.

Too stressful. I always had two complete sets and was able to sell winter sets for about 75% of what I paid when I got rid of car.

I like to have an alternate set of winters / summers (I usually buy the basic winter set). I like to change them myself, as the winter months in Cincy can vary. This year I did it December 12th, sometimes earlier, sometimes later. I like to be able to do it when the weather changes. Also Spring can vary as well, so like to have control when I do it myself. However if I didn't have the garage space to store the winters/summers, or the tools to do it, I would have the dealer do it (either switch sets, or do a tire swap).

As others have said, you can sell them for a minimal loss. I also like to have a base set for winter, as the snow, salt, etc. Does not treat the tires well, so nice to have a less expensive set to battle during the winter. There is no right or wrong answer, depends on your situation, space, weather conditions, etc.

I’m really not worried about my Porsche dealer swapping tires twice a year in a car I’ll likely only own for 3 years. If they screw something up, it’s on them, and I doubt they’ll screw anything up since they do this stuff every day. These guys are Gold Meister Master techs, not 17 year old kids at Walmart. That said, if a decent-priced set of OEM 992 20/21 wheels pops up, I’ll be happy to try to nab them.

I decided against a second set of wheels for the Cayenne in lieu of storage at the SLC dealer. A friend here has done this for 6 seasons and assured me he's never had even slight damage. My SA told me look, we want this revenue source and know very well it depends on getting it right and making good should an issue arise.

Having separate winter wheels/tires is convenient, but for me the most important reason is wheel balance. I'm a stickler about a wheel/tire combo having as near-perfect balance as possible, and when I get a set dialed in I want to run them until it's time for replacement. Taking a perfectly balanced set of tires off wheels twice a year would be a recipe for frustration for me as it often takes more than one try - even on a Road Force or similar rig - to get the balance just right. I like KNOWING that when I put my summer wheels/tires back on they will feel exactly the way they did the day I took them off.

Thanks.

Front PA5 245/35/r20 on 9" +40
Rear PA5 295/30/r21 on 10.5" +48

Went with custom offsets similar to my stock Turbo ED wheels just pushed out 3mm on rear.
