Dealer gave away my allocation slot.

Ill go against the grain and say stick with the original deal. They admitted their mistake and even compensated you for it to the tune of $2k. You will still get the same car, just 6 weeks later and $2k cheaper.

If you want to punish them for their behavior then go through with the purchase. Try to get them to increase the $2k discount to $4k. And then when they send you the sales customer satisfaction survey, you can punish them with low ratings and transparency into their behavior.
If you buy elsewhere it will have zero consequences for the dealer as they have demand for these cars.

Honesty this doesn’t seem that bad. Dealer either screwed up or gave away your allocation, either way they got you a new one 6 weeks later (which is nothing in the grand scheme of things) and offered you a discount. I’m with the above posters, try to negotiate for a better deal, but if not it’s not worth the stress; build the car you want, wait an extra 6 short weeks and then enjoy it. I wouldn’t lose a minute of sleep over this.
OP saying he’ll go to another car brand all together over this is just ridiculous, but did make me laugh out loud so thanks for the chuckle OP!

I would not do business with them. Unless someone really made a mistake( I doubt it) it’s a reflection of how they do business. When people run a business like this there will be other areas where they cut corners. It would be helpful for people to know the name of the Dealer.

Negotiate a better deal and wait 6 weeks. If they won’t budge more than the $2k, take it. Then after you take delivery, absolutely bury them in the survey and on dealerrater, google reviews, yelp, everywhere. Be very detailed about every step of the transaction and reference specific people you dealt with.

G650, if you're still here, this issue was discussed in the 718 section. As pointed out there, even if the dealership has an allocation, until Porsche AG acknowledges an order in writing with a commission number, and the dealership enters into a written agreement to sell that car to you, you don't have an enforceable contract. In fact, I'd be surprised if the initial document you and the dealership's agents (the SA and sales manager) signed initially doesn't explain this. Undoubtedly you have to scour the document to realize what you've signed is only an offer to buy a car, and that the dealership is essentially passing that offer on to Porsche AG, but that's the reality. And, of course, the dealership will never be candid in explaining this. You, of course, expect the dealership will honor the agreement the two of you signed, but as you discovered, there's nothing to prevent the dealer from double-booking (triple-booking, etc.) the allocation to the highest bidder. It's a disgusting practice, and it happens more often than you'd think, but I wouldn't recommend doing what one poster suggested above -- i.e., publishing your suspicion online unless you can prove the dealership did what you suspect. If you can't, almost certainly you'll soon hear from their lawyer. It's a pisser, but that's the reality.
At this point it comes down to whether you believe the SA is telling you the truth, that this was only an "internal error" (simply incompetence). If so, as suggested above, you can start over. If not, there's no way in hell that I'd buy a car from that dealership.

I'm agree with this. Besides, if OP go to another dealer and place a new order, it might take even longer to get the car.

Stick with the dealer. Given the delivery dates are still up in the air anyways, $2k is worth it for 6 weeks. You may end up getting the car about when you would have otherwise. There are also new options to choose from now so maybe you even get a build you like better.

Stick with current dealer. Pocket $2,000.
If you want to stick it to them, send the sales manager a glitter bomb. Google it if you don’t know what I’m talking about...

I second this, they’re effectively paying $50/day for the extra 42 days of waiting. I’m failing to see the big deal, It looks like they were transparent with their mistake and are taking steps to correct it. It’s not as if it was years of waiting to get sold out with no chance of ever owning the car.
