You hold your pinky up when shifting.

But it's just the high gears which are different. If they offered a 6-speed for non-GT cars you can be sure the ratios would be the same for emissions reasons. In fact I bet 6 would have the gearing of the current 7th gear.

I think everyone would take the GT car 6 speed in a heartbeat but for (dumb) emissions reasons that won't happen. But you suggest that the minor annoyance of the 7th gear (which most of us don't use) is enough to skip it and go PDK? Again on the pedestrian 911 cars, that doesn't mean PDK-S like in GT world, but just normal PDK. That's throwing the baby out with the bathwater. I'd rather have 10% less cake than cake made with a sugar substitute.

Patience, manual transmission is coming.. What is you thought about the leather stitching on both sides of the stick? does the stick design fits well with the rest of the "high tech cabin" ?

Honestly, I'm not really digging it. Of course that is just a prototype with tons of clutter, so hard to say. The most important thing is that we are getting a manual.

Like the 992 itself, I'm going to have to see it in person to decide how I feel about it aesthetically. I'm not worried about it functionally.

My opinion on the vertical stitching around the stick shift is that it looks weird. The interior of the car is mostly horizontal, dominated by that horizontal, dust-collector of a mini-shelf. To put vertical stitching on the leather around the gear shifter is to clash with the interior's horizontal theme. Italian artists of the High Renaissance would not be pleased. Of course, this is a German car, not an Italian car. Looked at another way, this is a variation on a 992 theme as the rear has a similar clash of horizontals and verticals, namely, the vertical Tron light bar clashes (to my Italian eyes) with the horizontal light bar. Maybe disharmony is what Porsche was aiming for, or maybe they just did not give these design elements enough thought, or perhaps I am just being too picky, or perhaps some combination thereof. Whatever the case, to my eyes, it doesn't work.

I much prefer the interior of the 991.2 but so glad a 992 MT is coming. Just my $0.02 worth.

God bless,
TT

Anything looks better than the nubbin. So glad we are getting MT, just wish it was discounted and avail now vs Q1 2020.

party pooper here.
die hard manual lover but they've lost me on the 992.
over priced, over sized, over teched, over gt'd, and over styled.
much more excited about GT4 and Spyder than this car, not to mention the Civic Type R or GT350.
If I wanted a video game I'd power up the Nintendo.

I don't disagree on that point, but some things I can overlook for 1/3 to 1/4 of the price of the new manual transmission 992.
