So Porsche has put what they call a stop on certain cars which includes mine some other 911’s I believe and Macan’s… the dealer has just told me it’s a material defect and the earliest we will hear anything is 8th November. Who knows what happens after that 🤷♂️
yeah, i know mechanically i don't have much to worry about. I guess more of if something freaky happens like hitting debris, an animal, a tire blowout, whatever. it'd be a looooong tow from some places. I know I know, chances are infinitely small, but **** happens. have to at least think about it.
But actually, as i started to map some these routes out, it hit me that these are in the mountains. I'm taking delivery on 12/3. checked out average temps are around 27 low 47 high in those areas. Driving on summer tires... i'm going to have to keep an eye out on temps and conditions. May have to have a couple alternate paths just in case.
Well, I think you might be fine below the Mason-Dixon line until December 3. It all depends on the weather, of course.
I should add that I set the Navigation on "Avoid Highways"; that found us the back roads, such as US 74 into Chimney Rock. That was a great road actually.
What I've always done to find back roads is to set the GPS on "avoid highways", then pick certain small towns on the road you want to travel as way points. This doesn't always work if the town in question is not in the GPS data base.
My car is now in Emden. For those that have pics of their cars in production, did the pics just show up somewhere on the main TYD page or is there a link?

Ha, mine showed up today...still on phase 2, lol....but my car to be is currently getting loaded within the next 24 hours in Emdem, been completed since 10.8. Maybe - like me - you will never see a photo?
Just checked - my car has arrived at Emden - milestone 8 !!!!!
My car arrived at Emden 10/14. Got scheduled on Mediteranian Highway loading tomorrow. Arrival date in Austin has been moved up to 11/19. "Discover your Phase" still showing "scheduled for production" but TYD is updated. So I never got any pictures.
wonder if it will be a quick turn around like it was for Halifax, my car is offloading at Baltimore
I hope so.... TYD has always shown these last few steps with one (same) date... so while I don't think its realistic for the car to arrive at the Dealer the same day it unloads off the boat, I do think the boat is planned to be in and out of port in the same day.
Hooray for you and me! What Dealer is your car going to? Mine is going to Warrington, PA... then scheduled for PPF so it will probably still be a week or two before I get to bring the car home.
