Really, I think VAG is dreaming with that "no impact" statement. The recovery effort on the submerged vehicles, plus the salvage operation itself to clear the fallen bridge, that alone will be months.
Got an allocation for a 2024 Carrera T (freeze date is late April). I think I'm pretty sure which options I want, only thing holding me up still is color. This is going to be a 2nd / fun / weekend car so I wanted it to be a "fun" and flashy sports car color. Was thinking Ruby Star Neo, Shark Blue, Python Green, or Racing Yellow. All have been pulled. So now I'm thinking Guards Red. Thoughts, given my configuration?

That port is also critical for coal exports, and sugar imports.
You might be underestimating the size of the area. The port of Baltimore is pretty large, and there's definitely enough room for vessels to be able to dock at Sparrows Point and leave without getting near (I'm talking about hundreds of meters) the recovery efforts.
We'll see if/when Amethyst Ace docks.

Hi all, does anyone have an update on Lake Taupo? Last I was able to see it was scheduled to arrive at Jacksonville on 4/19 after departing Emden on 3/22. Is that the typical transit time? I had the idea it was a faster trip (two weeks instead of three).
Thanks!
Shipping question. I look at schedules using PWL, selecting US West/East coast and Volkswagen Konzernlogistik Export, producing a schedule like the below. @2008cayennefan post shows vessel Lake Taupo departing Emden 3/22 but is not visible on PWL site or below image (with a Jacksonville ETA of 4/12).
Are there alternate sites to see a full view of Emden departing ships for VW group? I thought about VesselFinder subscription and reviewing all departures, but that is extensive.

Congrats on the allocation and Guards Red FTW....not being biased but Porsche isn't going to offer more "fun" colors outside of PTS until the 992.2 so go for GR.

Guards Red is a great color if you want to go flashy. I also saw you optioned for the Burmester Audio System, I think you will find this is a waste in a T. They are way too noisy to hear subtle audio details. You are better off going with the Bose system and save a few dollars. You should test drive a T and see what I mean. Between road noise and engine noise the T is loud in the cabin. That is one of the qualities of a T that make is exciting to drive.

Thank you. I have been unsuccessful in finding one to test drive. Is the Bose good? I’m really big into music so figured I might appreciate the upgraded stereo on longer highway trips (when in 7th)???

The Burmester Stereo is better than the Bose but the Bose is pretty decent. The problem is the cabin noise on a T. You won't be able to really hear any difference between the two when traveling. The only way you would hear a difference is if you were stationary and the engine was turned off. Don't get me wrong the Burmester is a really good stereo but it isn't worth the cost difference in a T. The Burmester is probably only worth considering if you were configuring a touring vehicle like the Turbo Carrera. There you have better insulation and it is a much quieter ride.

My T is loud and the base audio is perfect for it. Anything more is a waste.

VWs port facility in Baltimore is downstream of the damaged bridge. I would assume they will allow ships to still use those facilities as they need to make whatever money they can at the still accessable docks and keep people employed to some level.

The other shipping line that I’m aware of that Porsche uses is NYK (a recent example is King Quest that picked up San Diego bound Porsches last week). When I checked NYK’s shipping schedule ( https://www.nykroro.com/customer/schedules/ ), it does not list Lake Taupo as one of its ships. Did you receive an email notification from Porsche that your car left Emden around the time Lake Taupo departed and that’s why you think your car got loaded? If your car was loaded, your sales rep certainly will have the ship name in their internal tracking system so check with them. Good luck!
