Yea and no. No because these are gestalt cars. They are the sum of their parts. For me, the base lacking manual, rear diff and having a suspension on the softer side are non starters. Ditto for the larger turbos in the S and GTS. Yes because you can also ruin a good car. The T loaded with heavy options is a waste, again, for my taste. A "killer car" means different things to different people. My vision of the perfect Carrera is a low options T. YMMV.
Think the “base” or “standard” 911 is so good that we can all be extra picky.

Hello all! I can't believe I'm posting to the "new 992 on order" forum....what!?
Just wanted to say hi, tell you this experience has been life changing as a soon to be new 911 owner, and give hope to anyone out there struggling to get an allocation.
It can happen!
I ordered Dec 22, 2023. Dealer says it should be here in June 2024.
I have read a lot of criticism about Porsche, the premiums, and allocation.
Props to Porsche Irvine, CA. They killed it. Great staff there! It took a day to get an allocation 😲
Literally just happy to be here!
Even this photo makes me smile

Just got an email that my GTS left the German port on its way to California. Anyone on the same ship? Trying to figure out what ship its on.

I can confirm that the new crest had not entered 992 production as of mid to late November. The proof below is via a 992 produced during that timeframe. The car very recently arrived at the dealer.

Track Day
The update I received earlier today is that mine is undergoing a “Quality Action”, but pending further detail on nature of the action and time consequence.
I am sorry to hear that. I hope it doesn"t turn out to be anything serious. I am getting a little nervous about my car being at the port this long. I am pretty squirrely about my cars and have been a little unlucky with them the last few years. Ordered a new 2021 C8 convertible, waited 14 months and then the dealer washed it they put so many swirls all over the paint (even the door jambs) that it took me about 2 full weeks of detailing and wheeling with a DA to get the paint close to where it should be. Ordered a 2022 challenger hellcat redeye jailbreak, waited 11 months and it came in with a large dent in the roof. Guess I am more picky than some folks or maybe expect too much. Keep me posted on what you learn on your car.

Question for those with cars on ships...
Today, 12/29, TYD updated to show my car "has left the German port" with an event date of 12/27 (the same date TYD says my car left the German port). I checked the Porsche API JSON but don't see a ship identifier.
How long does it typically take for a vessel ID to populate in the TYD code?
I see that the Glovis Comet was scheduled at Emden on 12/23, but (if I'm reading correctly) it looks like it arrived 12/26 and departed 12/27. I also see the Neptune Barcelona is scheduled at Emden on 1/4.
My car finished production on Dec 13 and left for Emden on Dec 14. I'm guessing it made it on the Glovis Comet and TYD tracking is delayed (not yet reporting the vessel ID), or I will get loaded onto the Neptune Barcelona, and TYD just sent the update prematurely...
Anyone have any experience that might help me decipher which is more likely?
TIA...

I got an email this morning, was attempting to use the api.porsche to find which ship, however, nothing showing properly for "ident" yet. Will let you know once I find out/it updates on the website inspect code.
