Picked it up today. Started the decision to get a new one back on June 8th….2020.
The color is paint to sample, Club Blue. With a standard black interior to help keeping it clean. It’ll be a daily driver and the pebble grey from previous 991, really grabs dirt, so avoided the lighter colored inserts.

One year sounds right. I made my decision in December 2020 and will be getting my car in late November, early December.

Yeah, I struggled a lot with that before ordering without the sport design package. I feel the rear fascia REALLY needs to be painted on all these cars -- black or body color. But, I'm not at all a fan of the front fins, and I'm pretty neutral on the rear wing with that package. So, paying $6K more for something I "mostly" like less didn't make sense for me.

992 TTS Arrived - Fantastic - Thoughts on Options
Earlier today on the 992 TT/S forum, I posted a thank-you to all who helped me arrive at this configuration based on your photos, ideas and watchouts. I used this photos thread over and over to look at colors and options. So, in this (long) post, I’ll provide payback by summarizing the basis for my decisions and initial reactions. Also, that post ('21 TTS Arrived - Exceeds All Expectations!") has a photo of a 991.1 TTS and Steve C4S96's beautiful 2012 997 TTS for comparison.
For decades, I’ve owned cars where I’ve said: “I will never sell this car”. But then two or three years later, I wanted the newer, faster, technologically advanced model. So, this car is mostly optioned with “essentials” so that if I want to trade in three years, I have a shot at not taking a bath on trade-in and perhaps buying the car at the residual value and winding up with money in the frunk.
The following long section is for members who are deciding about options on a TT/S or any 992.
Color: So many great looking TT/S colors on this thread; I like GT Silver because of the way it shows the car’s lines.
Exclusive Design Wheels in High Gloss Black: This was part of picking up black accents on the car. Also, we wanted a wheel design that was different from the 2015 TTS. FWIW, after my build locked, I noticed that several of the cars on this thread with these wheels also wound up with Pirelli P-Zero tires, which is the case on our car.
Sunroof in glass. My wife and I have this on our Cayenne e-hybrid and like how it brings light into the cabin and how the black sunroof looks on GT Silver 911. With the GT3, where weight and center of gravity, mattered, I never missed a sunroof.
Side skirts in body color: An SA once told me that this option makes the car appear closer to the ground, the skirts on the 992 look more “aerodynamic” than on earlier models. Upon delivery, the car went on a transporter to a local shop for installation of PPF (Xpel Ultimate) on the front half of the car, side skirts, mirrors and over the rear stone guards.
Front Axle Lift: This has saved my bacon on previous 911s whether going into a shopping center parking lot or anticipating a concrete drainage swale lower than the pavement surface or a speed hump meant to be taken at approx. 15 mph. Some forum members have said that a lack of FAL can make it difficult to sell/trade the car. If it's a lease, not a big value issue. Unlike the GT3 with it's consumable composite lip, there's a lot of high-priced equipment involved with the front spoiler.
Sport Exhaust: I’m a sucker for the sound of the engine and I like the rear diffuser exhaust design that’s similar to the GT cars. The sound is so different from that in the 991.1 TTS and similar to well-designed V8s and V12s on other makes of sports and GT cars.
Interior: I like the Turbo S on the headrests, which is where I typically opt for the Porsche Crest, so I kept those and added the Porsche Crest to the center console. The size is a great match to the size of the console lid. I added illuminated dark aluminum door-sill guards with the TTS logo and painted keys with a leather key pouch. Far be it from me to deny Porsche some easy money.
Additional gloss black highlight bits: LED matrix lights in black, gloss black calipers, gloss black side window surrounds, gloss black rear side air intakes, Turbo S logo in high gloss black. I kept the rear deck Porsche logo chrome because, to me, in black, it’s too subtle and difficult to read. And related to this, I opted for clear taillights. One thing I missed was doing the mirror base in body color or high gloss black. I’m thinking of changing the side marker lights from yellow to clear.
The standard color for the rear lid vertical slats is, to me, indistinguishable from GT Silver. When I was configuring black and agate gray cars, I spec’d body color slats.
There are two packages that either I missed in 2021 or were not available until the 2022 MY: “Exterior Package Painted” and “Exterior Package Painted High Gloss Black”. These include a lot of the things that I did in body color and high gloss black depending on the package. Worth of look.
Surround View: We have it in our Cayenne e-hybrid and it’s a great assist when parking in a tight spot.
LCA and LKA: Why not? I’m attentive while driving, but if I’m ever distracted and one of these saves me, it’s well worth it. I can shut off LKA if desired, e.g., on a city street with potholes that I’m dodging. LCA is unobtrusive. Also, I like the traffic sign recognition feature with LKA.
Other stuff: ventilated seats, heated steering wheel (gets really hot and really cold in VA), mirror logo projector (total fluff but it is cool), ionizer (wasn’t going to but I did order during Covid), storage package, aluminum fuel cap.
Here’s what I did not order:
Burmester Sound System: I love music, but I rarely listen to the radio in a 911 except when stuck in traffic or on a long trip – not too likely in the TTS. The Bose system is good and as stated above I wanted to keep the MSRP in check.
Innodrive and Adaptive Cruise Control: When I’m driving, I’m all in so I don’t want a system (Innodrive) managing the car for me. I’ve had ACC on cars and, although I never tailgate, I didn’t like the fact that even at the closest setting, it was putting a sign on my car saying: “Pass me, plenty of room ahead!” Invariably, cars would pull into the space ahead of my car, which would react by slowing down to reestablish the following distance judged safe. And call me shallow, but I don’t like the pimple on the front fascia.
Sport-PASM: When the person who sold me Porsches in CA told me that he didn’t order Sport-PASM for a Carrera S that he ordered for his personal use (he’s owned a GT4 and he’s a motorsports fan and gearhead), I knew that I had made the right decision for our use. I decided not to order it after reading road test reviews and watching videos. Might be right for anyone who will track their car 6 to 10 times a year or more, but not for where I’m driving – urban, suburban and rural. Driving the same roads as I did in my 991.2 GT3, the 992 TTS doesn’t feel much different with standard PASM (meaning it feels great). Also, I'm fine with the body height without S-PASM's lowering.
Power Steering Plus: We have it on the Cayenne e-hybrid that we bought off the lot and it’s fine. It’s so natural that I forgot it was there until I looked at the window sticker a few weeks ago. But on a 911, I don’t want any trickery messing with the engineers’ original intent. And then there were those Rennlist videos of a baby on his dad’s lap steering a non-PSP 911 with ease, and comments saying PSP might be good if your grandmother will be driving the car or if you’re recovering from double shoulder surgery.
Remote Parking Assist: Expensive and I’ll parallel park my own car, thank you. If I want terror and anxiety, I'll go to a horror flick, not watch a computer park my car in a tight spot!
Exterior Sport Design Package: I don’t like the flics on the front end and didn’t think the package was worth the cost for my personal objectives with the build.
Lightweight package, carbon fiber roof, etc.: – options that would be great for a car that will see several track days in a year. It’s like building an AWD GT 2 RS with additional weight and less power, but cool.
Interior upgrades in leather, race-tex, aluminum, etc.: not personally important to me vs. cost.
That’s about it. PM me if you have any questions about this build and my decision process. The MSRP (2021) was $228,510. After seeing the cost of others’ builds, I guess this is what a buddy of mine use to refer to as “A Poor Boy Special”. That said, I love it – it’s perfect for me.
