every supercar makers do it.. ad personam, taylor made, mso.. i think it's great. only collectors and flippers compete over these. i find it entertaining and jawdropping to see how someone would pay hundreds of thou for painted plastic pieces in all different makes and models. teenagers cheering them on in the auction sites. fan-f'ing-tastic.
Porsche has always been about customization. Even regular 911s have so many options and colors available that your car can be totally unique. That's what pushes the extreme Sonderwunsch editions. Anything and everything can be done.
If you ever tour the Sonderwunsch facility, you'll see a bunch of cars that are driven hard and there for a refresh or changes. It's not the bespoke boutique with pristine cars one would think it is.
