992.2 GT3RS
hence the "if" I guess. We've seen all parts of this separately, though - no lag on the e-turbo GTS, massive revs on Temerario, and arguably good sound on some Ferrari turbo engines. If Porsche can bring it all together, I'll take it. But it's still an "if", but I want to believe
There is a reason that Porsche have named the latest Cup cars as simply Porsche Cup and not GT3 CUP....because going forward....the Cup cars will no longer be based on the GT3 road car drive train.

to be fair, we are approaching times when road engines are better in many/most way than motorsport engines, which are limited by rules and desire to keep costs under control, so further development is mostly focused on cost reduction and maintenance interval extension. The GT3RS road engine already had more advanced elements than the cup engine. Sure, racing is a good test of endurance, that might be lost, but the operating parameters are not the same (often tuned for less hp, with beefier cooling, and operating in a narrow rev and temperature range) so it's unclear how representative that testing will be.
met over the weekend and heard this from a principal Porsche dealership owner who shared that there will be no 992.2 3RS
i said really, but Porsche has always followed up a .1 with the .2
He said, the 992.2 RS will only be as the 2RS

Interesting because the speculation on the German forum (PPF.de) is that the 992 GT2RS would be a T-Hybrid design but because the costs were so high (whilst trying the keep the weight down), that the GT2RS will not be produced. However, the 992.2 GT3RS will be produced but with a bi-turbo.

I think I’m good with that rather than get some watered down bloated version of the iconic name plate. If everything is a GT2 moving forward it’s ok……
If they don't make a 992.2 GT2 RS and the 992.2 GT3 RS is turbocharged, then I think this fits the narrative posited by some Porsche people years ago that there may be just one RS (called neither the GT3RS nor GT2RS, but just 911RS or something like that. Basically merging the two RS models into one).
NA is an infinitely bigger deal than a wing (IMO). For any future GT3 that is not NA then it shouldn’t have the GT3 branding or badging unless they do like what they did with the touring package which is badged as GT3 Touring so maybe if they do decide to have a turbo version GT3 then they should have badging such as GT3 Turbo.
Still, my opinion is that if it isn’t NA then it shouldn’t even be in the GT3 family. They should come up with like GT1 or GT5 or something and retire the GT3 honorably.
PAG isn’t stupid so I anticipate that whatever they do they’ve really thought it out. People commonly make mistakes though (I am looking at you Toyota for the BMW Supra!)
