Adding To The Stable - 296GTB or Revuelto
#76
I'd go for a classy specced Revuelto to add next to the GT3.
Speciale, Pista, LTs are also very nice, but since you already have a GT3, a V12 makes more sense imo.

The 296 really makes the SF90 seem like overkill as the 296 when driven hard is more engaging than the SF90. I think they could have done better with the exhaust on the 296 (such as how they did the race car in challenge or GT3 format) but for those of you saying that an 800+ HP rear wheel drive car with a really cool sounding engine is not 'engaging' - I mean...sorry but that's wildly hopeless. It's insanely fast, and squirts and darts around under full throttle and through corners it slides etc just like any fun mid engined car should.

I agree that it’s like a TTS, in the aspect, a gt3/rs and TTS are going to be similar lap times, but the GT is just more dramatic from a sounds/feeling aka loud/metallic/stiff standpoint which to me is “engaging”
if I have to drive it wot on track like your taking I believe, I would just call it a very very capable sports car (which it is), but not necessarily engaging.
I would agree sliding just about any 800hp sports car on a track at wot is going to be engaging and fun lol and if anyone gave me the keys to a 296 to drive around laguna, I’m taking that opportunity 100% of the time

Downside on McLaren vs Porsche is build quality and dealer network / proximity but on a 488 vs 720 comparison the 720 is way way better.
Mclarens and Ferraris don't really tolerate hot ambient temps or sustained 25-30 min track sessions 5-6 times a day like a GT3 does.
Track wise- I have a GT3 cup and a 488 evo so not biased there either.

I also didn’t feel that it was faster than the tuned 991.2 GTS I had at the time. I’m sure I would have felt differently if my focus was on performance from 60 or 80mph on up, instead of spirited windy road stuff and stop light shenanigans.
Your comments about temperature control perfectly illustrate the need to consider usage when comparing cars. I’ve never tracked my cars. During my type of driving, my 488 controls temperature (engine oil and coolant) far better than my 992 TTS.

Most of us do not own several expensive performance cars and are fortunate to track them. I value all posts, whether they relate to car performance opinions or the status of the car market. This is a site for Porsche enthusiast open to all opinions related to Porsche.
You might want to scratch your ego.

I appreciate your input. Please explain how I misread his post when he singled out himself and others as true car enthusiasts and compared them to the whiners who whine about ADM and not being able to get an allocation. Sorry, his intention was clear. Demean those who complain about markups and not being able to get an allocation. Do I need to remind you how many posts dealt with the issue of dealer ADM’s and allocations?
I'll end my rant now by saying we are all equal car enthusiasts.

maybe there does need to be a Whining Whiners subforum to add to the everything ADM forum.
