Second Service?

Second Service?
How much do dealers normally charge for the 2yr/20k mile service on a 992 GT3?
Also, is the time (2 years) or mileage the real indicator of when to get service?
Thanks!

My dealer wants $4k USD, and it's 2 years according to them. Will be doing the sparkplugs myself. Maybe filters, though I don't like the idea of having to take the bumper off....

I am also going to be installing the car graphics and removing the OPF so I will be taking the bumper off.

Depending where you live air filters really shouldn’t need to be changed for 20,000 miles or so.
Time has nothing to do with it, it’s strictly mileage and how much air has flowed through the filter.

Cabin filters (one in frunk near windshield and one on passenger footwell) are supposed to be changed every 2 years or 12k miles. I think the time limit has to do with mold and other bacterial growth that can happen with or without miles. Just a guess…

Three Wheelin'
There is no way in hell I would pay $4k for that basic service --- I am way too cheap and that is a total rip off. My dealer would probably even charge more, LOL... The 2 cabin filers cost less than $100 and it would take much less than 30 minutes to replace. The only thing semi-complex is changing the spark plugs. Of course, to bleed the brakes would require taking the wheels off. It would be worth paying $500 for the torque bar setup and I still would save a ton of money.

My only concern with the 2 year maintenance doing it myself is resetting the oil light. I haven't found a tool yet that is reasonably priced to do this. My other non Porsche cars only require a couple key strokes in the Infotainment system. So ridiculous.

I was quoted $1100 without the spark plugs. Interestingly, local Porsche dealer said that spark plugs are not required for year 2 service. I am also nearing my year 2 service.

Changing spark plugs every two years regardless of miles seems very wasteful. Most of us probably have less than 5000 miles on the car annually.
Brake fluid makes a bit of sense because it absorbs moisture even if not driven, but even that can be tested rather than just indiscriminately changed IMO.
The same goes for oil. These modern synthetic oils can easily last 5-10k miles but most of us are changing them every 1000 miles to stay in Porsche's good graces and avoid the pcm warning messages.
The cabin air filter is not getting any use in my car because I have the windows down every single time I drive the car anyway, I could care less if it's doing anything at all. And most of the time you can remove it, shake the debris out in the trash and put it right back in. The only time it needs to be replaced is it it starts to smell. If you car is always garaged and in a low moisture environment then you're just wasting money on replacing that too.
With that said, I get all the service done at the dealer simply because I feel for value retention, the service records should stay with Porsche and the car. It's super wasteful, and I wish that wasn't the case, but ...
If you're not concerned with record keeping, you can easily exceed the suggested intervals with no risk to the actual car. Of course, if you're tracking the car frequently then you're likely doing more frequent maintenance anyway.
Just my $0.02
