I still believe the right thing for porsche to do is reimburse you for the trip expense. After all, you would not have gone specifically on those dates if it wasn’t to pick up the car and drive it through Europe. The fact that you still had a good time on the vacation is irrelevant. Maybe when everything is all said and done, you can approach them.

honestly a 2nd set of factory RS wheels + what they've already done for me and I'd be pretty happy.

What do you plan to get for your 2nd set of wheels? Porsche wheels? Lightweight aluminum, magnesium, etc? I also am considering getting a 2nd set. I've bent enough wheels to know my odds.

Talking to my radical dealer the other day and he said at the peak of covid, they were paying $17k to ship a radical over on an airplane. He said recently he paid less than $6k.

If they gave you a name I'd love to hear it. Even adjusting for the lighter weight that is pretty good.

I'm just beginning to investigate my options…I'll let you know if/when I find something.

given the fact that I understand the RS wheels have some unique offsets vs. other 911's and the low volume of RS vehicle's - I'm inclined to go with a factory set to have zero issues with fitment and/or offsets

I'd love to hear alternative options from the wisdom of the forums - I use my 2nd set for 3 day track weekends to have a spare set of tires ready for saturday/sunday…

I'd love any recommendations from anyone for a 992 GT3 RS w/PCCB calipers for a 2nd set of wheels.

Depends on how dedicated you are to the lap time I suppose. If it's truly a second set that's seldom used the factory lightweight set is 9300, but they are still significantly heavier than the magnesiums. like 7kg? If you can feel that difference you're probably pretty dedicated. 23k for the mags is fairly stiff, but RS is RS.

yeah not doing hte mag's unless I can get Porsche to give me a 2nd set - the lightweight aluminums will be fine for a 2nd set of wheels - car comes with one set of mags (included w/WP) and I'll have the spare set for 3 day weekends…

update this morning from Torture-your-Depreciable-Asset (TYD) customer porsche ID portal - car is at the German port!!! So I think we're now back on a "normal" path - so from here on out it's just normal delivery to North America - TYD says mid-december at my local Porsche dealer - the entire delay is going to be about 40 days +/- vs. the "ideal" best case - my buddies GT3-T is due Nov. 5th +/-…so that would've been best case…

but I'm happy now that the car appears to be on it's way

it's been impossible to get any status from Porsche on this whole thing - but now that's back on a normal path I should no longer need status.

car's top speed is 184 mph - but it took two weeks to cover the distance from Stuttgart to Emden…must lacked unrestricted autobahn…

hmmm - boat fire or sinking anyone?

finger's crossed.

Congrats! What an ordeal 🥵. It then looks like your 3RS and my 4RS, currently at Emden also, might travel together -all the way to Stevens Creek, hopefully before Christmas 🙏🙏.

Emden is a mess...that's why Joey from Atlanta ED is flying there this month to figure things out.
VAG runs the show, i.e. who gets on a boat and Porsche has no say 🥵. And amidst all the Macans and Panameras, those "lowly" ED cars are just an annoyance... And to make matters worse, noone's talking! Once you drop off your precious piece of metal, it goes into a black hole. Why can't Porsche "extend" the TYD (Track your delivery, lol) to ED cars? It's an embarrassment that people have to leave Apple airtags to keep informed of their vehicle whereabouts (I didn't but should have!)
Porsche needs to revamp this ED program or stop it because it doesn't seem to their priority...
That's why Audi and BMW (except SUV's) gave up. But no matter what, not communicating with your customers is an absolute no-no, IMHO.

Sounds like the best option is to drive it to the airport on your way to the airport and have them ship it home. Yes, costs a little more, but you get your car almost immediately.
