Things being considered such as customers need to have purchased X new Porsches in Y time period?
What bothers me is they have no apparent consideration for those of us that have supported their brand in their lesser decades, and continue to do so.
By support, I mean having notable collections of early Porsches, showing and placing on the lawn at Pebble, loaning cars to them for their exhibitions, preserving the preservation class early cars before it was recognized and before they were irrevocably altered, painstakingly researching and restoring early Porsches to far more accurate standards than they do. Literally spending tens of thousands of dollars transporting cars at our expense to shows for their brand, because we thought it was important to continue to educate people about Porsche. For example one of my cars went to Pebble at their request for their display of important race cars as it was a winning factory werks car, in original condition. A friend had one displayed on the lawn this year and another was judged. None of us can get allocations. I will still support the local enthusiast shows, and send cars as requested for the main display at Luft, for example, even when I don’t attend.
Now they would rather sell a ST to a social influencer or flipper, it seems, rather than someone who has supported their brand for decades when even they didn’t seem to care. I really wanted the new 992 ST to enjoy and drive, in part since I had the earliest ST. (To add to the debate, I don’t think it’s a parts bin car either, as all the carbon body panels - or you could call the original ST’s parts bin cars too. Mine too was a lightweight shell and body parts. I also have in storage another spare factory grp body kit (the factory would sell these kits to people to convert their regular 911’s to ST spec) that was on a privateer that was raced. (Fenders, bumpers, doors, lids).
I suppose there is still a slight chance I get one despite being told improbable!
ps. I hope you were at Pebble this year and saw Richie Ginther’s 1971 factory ST which raced in LeMans. An important ST in great period colors. The very earliest ones were actually narrow-body and the flares almost immediately.

I'm a dye-in-wool brand addict but even I have come to realize Porsche is now a giant marketing machine. There needs to be a balance -- nobody needs to flog the next 911 Walmart Edition as the "emotional enthusiast's choice" or how the Cayenne Tuesday 1/5000 Edition being a link to "Our Le Mans Heritage".
Sometimes less is just more. Unfortunately that virtue appears lost at the moment.

I think the brand Is straddling the sword...
don't slip.
nothing is too big to fail.... Lehman, ****, Sun.....
when die hards like bowball and others are "thinking"....
You be surprised how much Porsche AG, not local Porsche distributors, aka PCNA, Porsche GB, Porsche China, etc, cared about their special clients. Some of us have direct line to personal in Zuffenhausen. And don't underestimate the power Porsche AG have if they wish to use it.
A little while ago, my local dealer's Sales Manager tried to play games with my allocations. I informed Zuffenhausen about it and not long after, he was fired, and the owner of the dealership contacted me to smooth things over and the GM also asked fro a meeting to wipe the slate clean and start over. A few here that's from my area would have noticed a girl now sit in his place.
