I have a feeling the z06 is going to be THE ringer here, and they will have probably found a lot more feel, especially if they take more from the racing program than normal.

I have a friend who works high up in innovation dept at GM. He doesn't spill the beans, he's not a cleaning lady.. but he has said that the effort they've put into the Z06 to make it a world-class and category beating machine, is like nothing they have done before. Despite thinking this car is hideously designed, I can overlook that (no pun intended) based on what it promises performance-wise. I had to reach deep into the center of country to get my #1 spot at a large-volume dealer at MSRP, as I couldn't find anything with Cali stealers. I'm probably more excited about getting this Z06 in 2023 than 992 GT3 in early 2022.

This car is about pure race-derived functionality.. I don't care how fugly it is.

I'm not sure I can stomach that curvey wing and flicks though, I may go for the low-downforce body kit.

Great but will it qualify for Hypercar Invitational?

I've got to ask Bernie Madoff who is ... my new sponsor?

All kidding aside, I am trying to get GM to bring these Z06 as part of an OEM sponsorship deal... I think our guests would enjoy hearing The steps that this very traditional company took to create this very innovative car during our workshops and dinners. I do also believe that seeing this thing fly around Laguna Seca would raise some eyebrows even among buyers of $1M+ cars.

I think it will be very exciting to see what kind of numbers the Z06 can achieve (along with industry-busting price). I am disappointed to see this is likely the first Z06 without a Manual option though (unless they make some kind of clutch and shift by wire arrangement).

Will it have a 9k redline?

If so, it would truly be epic.

That is the rumor as well as being 5.5L and well over 600hp.

If it makes same hp and tq per liter as base GT3, then it would make 701 hp and 476 ft-lbs (cylinder size is almost identical to GT3)…

And starting price under $100k is rumor.

Il not good at this stuff.. can it make that same torque but less power though?... I've heard rumors it will make slightly less power than c7 z06 which was supercharged and made 650hp.

I'm mostly curious how they fixed the vibrations from such a large displacement flat-crank v8.

Yes, the torque is pretty much guaranteed by the displacement (or somewhat close to 450-475), but the hp requires very high rpm and good breathing (and really high compression).

Ford and Chevy are famously exceeding the early power estimates lately (so they may be sandbagging when they say less power than last Z06).

I’m putting my name on both the GT3 and Z06 lists as well. I still haven’t decided if the overall build quality of the new C8 (even in 3LT) trim is enough for me to trade in my 2013 C2S (which I love), but the performance bargain of the Z06 is compelling. Honestly I’m glad that Chevy is pushing the performance/technology envelope because it will motivate Porsche’s GT department to deliver more than incremental upgrades.

It would be hilarious if it is indeed a 9000 rpm, 5.5 liter, high compression track toy with CF wheels and CF bits like outgoing ZR1 at a half price of a decent GT3 spec then all this (GT3) ADM problem will magically work itself out. Everyone is happy (except the ones who forked out the 50k this summer).

But do you think the C8 Z06 is really a competitor to the GT3 (or really more like the GT3 RS).

I just don't see it. For those that do not get a 992 GT3, I really don't see them hopping over to their local Chevy dealer to spec out a Z06. The thing with the GT3 is that one can easily daily it and take it to the track and ring it out. The Z06 cannot do that. Not the former; the latter, for sure, at least that's what it's designed for.

you're saying the Z06 wasn't good on the street?
Or referring to over heating?

I have money down on the new Z06 and will also be getting a 992 GT3RS. Variety is good and I think this Z06 will be the one to have. A 5.5L, flat plane, N/A, high revving V8. It will be the last (and only) of it's kind, just like the 992 GT3RS will probably be the last of it's kind as well.

I’m sorry - how is Z06 any worse daily than the new GT3 with ball joins and double wishbone cup car suspension? It has twice the cargo space and can turn into a convertible in 30 seconds. Not how I would use this car but I am just responding to your statement.
