Allocation + ADM?

Dealership where I got my cayenne asked me for a preliminary build and no deposit. They have not said anything about adm. another local dealership asked for a prelim build, $1000 refundable deposit, then 10% when build is submitted. SA said price will be above msrp but not sure how much yet. Neither dealership has gotten their allocations yet. Not sure if I should go ahead with the deposit at the second dealership yet.

It's entirely based on your relationship with your store.
I'm not a 918 VIP but I'm getting first Touring allocation, PTS, CXX and at MSRP...because my best friend is GM of the store and I've bought tons of cars from him. Relationship
If you don't have a preexisting relationship with a store, no way in hell you're getting MSRP for the time being, or possibly even an allocation

A lot of dealer hate here and I get it... FWIW - Porsche Pittsburgh, which is under new management, has been great to me and I would recommend establishing a relationship there for anyone in the region. I moved to them when my old "no ADM" and "good guy" dealer asked me to buy multiple cars to get an allocation for something I was supposedly "on the list for" over multiple years and after having already bought multiple cars.

I have a deposit down at a dealership but not sure if I’ll get an allocation. If it’s refundable go for it

On what configurator? The US one isn't even out yet and I doubt that another's country configurator code would be accepted. Considering that other country's are known to have different std equipment.

It keeps you engaged and on the hook until they fill all the allocations. With other people..... watch closely... sorry...
