We’re right at the beginning of the frenzy so it is expected that demand will far exceed supply - good for dealers but unfortunately for buyers. Dealers will ask for ADM’s and will get them from many buyers. Once the dust settles, there will be less demand and the dealers will then end up ordering and building their own cars from their allocations and then offering to sell them again to the highest bidder. I did not get an allocation in 2018 or 2019 for a GT3 even though i have an extensive purchase history with my local dealers. Rather than buying in the secondary market for a slightly used car, I ended up buying a new 2019 GT3RS in December 2019 at slightly less than MSRP as there were many cars (about 30 nationally) sitting on dealer showrooms after the GT3 run. I didn’t get to build the car but did end up with a car in the color that i wanted and a few more options than I wanted. Just a thought for those trying to get a new 992 GT3.

I think others are going to be right, they are going to make more than the 991 so I'm not sure I would worry.

Making more isn't the same issue.

It's more about whether they will make more now.

Because if you want a 992 GT3 in calendar year 2021, you are going to be paying an ADM most likely. Even if Porsche makes more 992 GT3 over the entire life cycle of the 992 GT3 generation (.1 and .2 combined).

So saying that Porsche will make more is really irrelevant. It's whether Porsche will make more now. Given the constraints of the global economy (chip shortage comes to mind) as well as just smart corporate strategy, there's no reason or way for Porsche to flood the market with 992 GT3s.

And why would Porsche do that? That only loses the company money.

I just got offered an allocation (as was promised to me by the dealer) for $75k over sticker. Same dealer gave me my last 991.2 GT3 allocation at sticker.

I have a Turbo S on order and am more looking forward to that car than I would be even for a new GT3 at MSRP. Hard pass from me.

I am really looking forward to having Burmester, 18 ways, heated and cooled seats, for a change.

I'm sure that everyone has an idea what the concept of supply and demand does to pricing. Dealerships are businesses that all too often have to take supply and demand into consideration. Some dealerships get very few allocations and some get many allocation. The location of the dealership also plays a part in how they price their cars due to their local demographic. I know that my dealership will be offering these 992 GT3 cars at market value however I am unsure what that will be.

If I were a client I would want the lowest possible price for my build.
If I were the salesman I would just want to make the sale and gain a happy client.
If I were the owner I would want to capitalize on as much profit as I could since I would know they WILL all be sold.

Yes, some clients will wait and or accept a later build or even a pre-owned car although you must remember that there are clients out there that have the ability to pay over MSRP and will. It is ultimately your choice as a consumer what you do however lets all keep in mind that we a talking about a 992 Porsche GT3. You are all on Rennlist and know the following that these cars have made for themselves. You must do what is comfortable to you...

It is confirmed, we are contacting our clients and letting them know it will be a $20,000 markup for the first round of allocations. Some of the dealerships clients have decided to pass on the opportunity however my first 3 clients on our list have decided that this is fair and are planning to move forward.

Congrats on the sales. FWIW - ADM you are offering is similar to what's been quoted to me on winged GT3.

But you are not a client. You are a salesman so I don't think you have that perspective. How do you think a client, who has been on a dealer list with money down for two years is going to react when his allocation is given away to a guy who walks in with 20k above MSRP. Same client supports the dealership and services his cars there. Here is what happens as I have seen it before:

1. The client (Who is the local PCA chapter President) starts bashing the dealership at all the club meetings and recommends buying the cars from the honorable dealership just down the street or an hour away. Dealership loses countless future sales.
2. Same client brings in a reputable Indy as the guest speaker at the next PCA meet or dinner. He gives a nice brief on how he can do the same Porsche service for half the price. Hands out business cards. Gets recommended by PCA president and everyone claps. Dealership service department loses 20 customers.
3. Same client starts trolling dealership facebook and instagram pages, yelp, etc and other social media outlets.

And it doesn't have to be the PCA President.

All so that the dealer can make a few thousand bucks on a few cars that have a limited run anyway. You can play that ADM game, but it will come back to bite your dealership. Watch.
