992 GT car specs

We'll likely see the non-GT .2's get hybrid stuff and that is going to be the "big" change for the .2's. So I would guess the .2 GT cars will also see it but stick with the NA engine, will improve emissions slightly but rather than trying to squeeze another 20-30hp out of the 4.0/4.2, they will get another 50hp out of a small hybrid motor. I'd guess lithium battery, only a few kwh, but enough to do some regen/boost in and out of corners on the track. Will be a non-starter though if the system adds more than 100kg of weight.

my bet is gt becomes just like amg, m, s, etc. number 1 the germans all copy each other. number 2 it will make them ton of money. who cares really? as long as 911 gt cars are proper, I couldn't care less if theres a macan gt3rs hybrid sportback. bfd

^^^Agree. Porsche is in business to make money selling cars. Who knows how long their GT formula will continue the level of success it has enjoyed over the last decade-or-so? In the mean-time, why would they NOT wring every last penny out of it? Trying to play the “long game” in high screaming-almost-race-cars-for-the-road?.....come on, we are all gonna be in silver jump suits and ev hover crafts in the long game. So, yeah, they’ll crank out as many products as they can sell with a GT or RS badge. If you are a share holder, you want them to. The long game is not catering to GT enthusiasts; it’s figuring out the upcoming generation that is far more concerned with all-things-ESG than anything related to PTS, 9krpm, 3-pedals and ‘ring times. I like all those things but I don’t pretend to be anything short of a dinosaur.

Seats
What’s the thoughts on the seat options in the new car? Will they make a new 918 style bucket ? There due for an upgrade and that’s what is gonna be a sight to see.

Whats everyone going to do with several thousand 991GT cars when the next best thing is announced? Surely there will not be a huge second/third hand market for them so they will start to get dumped at the end of 2020 as they all run for the lifeboats... Thats Porsches long game...

^^This....there's already many GT3/RS from 991 series for sale on the used market. I don't believe it'll be what it was at the beginning of the 991 series. Especially if they keep churning them out in higher numbers. There just aren't enough buyers in the used market, especially for the winged GT3.
Will be interesting to look at inventory in June when summer starts.

If you guys want to talk GT car values, please start a separate thread.
I started this thread specifically to get away from all the value talk, and to just focus on 992 GT car specs and production timelines and stated that clearly in the opening paragraph of this thread.
Thanks

I love the design of the wheels shown in the Super-Bowl add, just not a fan of the silver color. If they come in a standard grey/platinum color (which I’m sure they will) I’ll be very happy.
To me they look similar to BBS FI-R wheels which is a great thing

From: Somewhere in a galaxy far, far away....
the 992 GT3 will need to be a significant leap to get people out of their 991.2 GT3.....
Personally, i dont see anything leaps and bounds coming over the 991.2.....

- Large segment of the GT customer base is in a hurry (even willing to pay above sticker) to get the latest/greatest that Porsche churns out. Those folks aren't going away - unless the market continues to tumble I guess. Even a slight improvement will get these folks to buy
- It will surely perform better on the track regardless of HP/torque numbers. There's a lot more to putting down a lap time than that. The new GT3 will put down an impressive 'ring time and that seems to mean a lot these days
- The tech will be better (much better) and that too will help - a lot of GT cars seem to be moving in to near-DD (or at least nearly 100% street) use. Tech matters. Things like wireless Carplay, etc. will sell the upgrade

I am super excited. I currently have sold 4 992s for my dealer and have the GM super happy and ready for my build. We just need more info to keep the excitement going. I am coming from a carrera T so its a big jump from 120k - 170-180k. I almost pulled the trigger on a 2018 gt3 manual for 152k but decided 2 just keep saving and waiting.

I was told the same info from a recent dealers' meeting in Las Vegas. Deliveries will start at the end of 1st quarter in 2021.
