None that I know of. I leave mine up all the time. Added ventilation plus I like the way it looks.
I don't fault anybody for leaving it up. We all have different tastes and opinions.
IMHO, this front angle is the only angle that it looks okay. The rest of the angles (side, rear) it looks like the trunk was left open by mistake. Clearly not designed to be open for aesthetics alone. Even on my black 991 it appears this way, well to my eyes at least.
Edit- Just read the last few pages of this thread and you guys had me laughing out loud. Funny ****. Love it!
My opinion is the extendable wing was designed for the purpose of both cooling the car and providing it with downforce at speed. I for one think it's looks a bit ridiculous extended at rest unless you are washing the car. It was not designed to be deployed all of the time. Just my opinion of course but the underside has no aesthetics and in part why Porsche added the popular Duck.
I like the clean lines of the standard 911 and why I would prefer a 911R versus a GT3. For me the understated look is better and more my style. Both cars are of course fantastic but I wouldn't push the button to raise the spoiler on my 911R to try and replicate the look of a GT3. If you like the spoiler look, make it permanent.
Spoiler goes up at 75mph. If Porsche thought it was cool it would go up at 10mph. You want it up, put it up, it's your car, just don't try to convince everyone that your a trendsetter.
One of the old guys.
Seriously, where did did "I try to convince everyone that I'm a trendsetter"? I like the way it looks and it might be a younger vs. older thing. It was a serious question that asked. If Porsche thought it was cool to put aftermarket wheels on their vehicles they'd do it right? Silly ain't it? Anyway, thanks to guys that gave real answers to the question. This was entertaining for sure but all you fellas that have animosity towards someone you don't even know because they don't do it like you do it I's mind boggling.
Just pulling your chain Jrod. I do what I want with my car, you should do what you want with yours. I took flak for the Aerokit and the Cobb AP and the Kline exhaust.
Most times it's just noise.
The comment was made in jest and in reference to a reply in the license plate thread....
Humor is humor, it should transcend politics, religion, and other generally sensitive topics. Speaking of which, get the 2X4 out of your **** and let JROD enjoy his spoiler up! And since you're clearly reading my posts, keep at it as it's bound to make you a better person.
I, myself, am responsible for at least 50K of the 1M+ views in your addictive HFS thread.
You'll bankrupt me bud, I'm convinced of it.
In that thread, they're saying a raised spoiler could be an indication of speeding to any police officers since the 75MPH "raise" is above any speed limits
Maybe having it raised all the time could help confuse the police or get you in trouble?? Looks like you're going 75MPH when you're actually going 50MPH??
STG- what did you do with your sport technos?! Hot look on your car!!
This thread is fun. Nice change of pace from GT3 thread (PTS shades, wheels, lights, allocations, blah blah blah).
I think some people are taking you a bit too serious here. Differing tastes/opinions make the world go 'round.
Having said that, most car folk will poke fun at you if you drive around town with visible erection. All in fun though. (Now, don't get me wrong, there's always at least one self-righteous type in the crowd who will take offense, but pay them no mind.)
