Default Tire Sounds/Jumping

Good Evening,

My 911 is not my daily driver, so took it out recently and noticed when turning the wheels while backing out it almost feels as if the tires are running over something. Of course there is nothing there when I get out and look. Any ideas, both front tires look normal to me.

Thanks,
Paul

You may want to search for "acorns"
This is also discussed in other threads:

probably a non-issue with the 991.2 RWS.
cheers

Search Ackerman effect. It's all about suspension geometry.

It's annoying but normal, and I have to deal with it every time I take my car out. You can hear a thunk and the sound of the tires scrubbing on the ground. My driveway is somewhat narrow and requires that I turn the wheel almost to full lock when navigating in and out of the garage bay I park the car in.

My Lexus GS 350 F Sport does this too. But all the time, not just when cold. It is, of course, front engined and has narrower tires than the 911.

So when I had it happen in the 911 the other day....didn't even think it was odd.

My Lexus IS 350 does it too, but not as bad as the 911. I have 245's in the front and 275's in the rear on the Lexus.

I would not describe it as running over acorns. Feels to me more like a gear is stripped/worn and then catches. I get it every time I roll down the driveway and cut the wheel. Same thing?
