Default Prices are astronomical for 2017 Porsche

Just got off the phone with a dealership in PA. A very nice guy as a matter of fact is trying to work with me on a price.

$135k plus tax for a C4S (Comes out to $145k with tax give or take).

Tried to attach my build to this. Not sure if it worked but let's see.

Dealer offer was 3% off MSRP.

His proposal was a lease term with $15,000 down / $1800 a month for 7500 miles per year. Obviously no where near what I thought it would be - and told him no go on this at all.

First Porsche doesn't seem like it will materialize - at least not now anyway.

? I don't think that is particularly off. At least the msrp, no idea about the lease.

Not the best deal for sure but in the ballpark. Not sure why the 15K down for a lease? Monthly payment and yearly mileage are also in the ballpark.

ask the sales guy for a copy of the current PFS lease terms ... and never put any cap reduction down...

+1 although I think with a zero cap reduction the lease payment would be higher than this.

Got 5.5% off on a Turbo with a Sept Build. My local dealer in Newport Beach, offered no discount, as he can sell his entire allocation at sticker. So, I'll have to drive < 35 miles to save $9,500 when I pick it up in late October -- seems worth the drive to me.

On the lease issue, I've never leased anything, but considered it for this transaction, until I got lease sticker shock -- payment was quoted at approximately $2,800/mo for a $165K build -- don't know how they came up with that number. Didn't want to get into the weeds on that one, so am paying cash.

I think there's wisdom in Dewinator's comment above.

I don't know, that build / cost looks ok. The 4S just starts higher of course. -- And you didn't even include the Sport/Performance package (incl PSE, SC, etc.). But 3%? That ain't so great.
Mind me asking which PA dealer? I am located in Bucks County, and have always worked well with Holberts, er I mean Porsche of Bucks County, uh I mean Thompson, or oh heck now it's Warrington Porsche or Sloane.... Ugh. Can't keep up. Anyways, they might be worth a try, and they have a couple 4S on the lot last time I looked.

PFS leases are horrible compared to other German brands. The residuals are set low and MF is always high. Attractive leases: 1) BMW 2) MB 3) Audi.

If you want a break on a C4, C4s or any four wheel drive car, look for dealers located in markets where demand for 4 wheel cars is close to nil. When they get their allocation for such a car, they know it's going to sit on their lot for a while and will eventually be sold for a discount.

I'm expecting delivery of my first new Porsche (991.2 C4S) and I actually thought I got a great deal. I planned to build one but found one that was almost exactly what I would have built (didn't have the LED lights but had all the other components of the Prem Plus Pkg). I ended up getting 5% off and the buy-rate on the lease money factor. I can tell you that I've been buying Mercedes for years from a local dealer and I never got that type of discount.

Thanks for the opinions guys.

We are talking back and forth so we shall see.

I'll keep you posted of course - this is my first lease with Porsche. I've got an S550. Dad's got a BMW 7 individual (lease) and my mom's got a Range Rover LWB (Financed)

I didn't expect to see the porsche lease numbers quite so high (comparing to other german brands)

3% on a new model right when they come out is good... 991.1 CPO is better!

I'm not sure I agree about Mercedes leases. I just completed two leases... one from MFB on a 2016 S550 coupe and one from PFS on a 2017 C4S. Both the 36 and 48 month residual was higher on the Porsche and MF was lower on the Porsche. Maybe it's dealer specific but I got the buy rate from PFS on the C4S however the MB dealer would not give me the buy rate on the S550... said they have to make money on it. The funny thing is that this was my first new Porsche from an out of state dealer that I've never bought from and it was my 10th MB from a dealer my entire family has been loyal to for two decades!

*** Full Disclosure *** The MB is not for me... I was helping a colleague to negotiate a deal given my long-term relationship. Go figure!
