True enough. I once did a 3 day track event at Mount Tremblant, Que. in a MT. It was exhausting and difficult, my knees hurt after all that heel-toeing.

When I take my 458 with F1 transmission (similar to PDK) to the track, it's a much easier experience. The steering wheels leds light up when you have to upshift, and if you're lazy about it, the car will do it for you.

I really don't find track work that difficult at all in a manual. BTW: how is it that your knees hurt when your using your heel and toe?

Old right knee meniscus injury aggravated by internal rotation when heel-toeing.

I do go faster on the track with F1 than MT, but I do prefer MT for my DD, that is why I have ordered a MT 991.2 Targa.

If you're sticking to one gear, I would choose second gear. Take the track slow. The acquired 'muscle memory' will in time shine through once you start pushing faster. Going slower means going faster. Concentrate more on braking late and not on so much on shifting.

The shifting will come. Practice unnecessary heel-toeing in your daily driving when you take corners. With no traffic, brake later than usual. In a couple months your track lines and your shifting teqhniques will effortlessly merge.

I found this to be a good article:

http://www.wsj.com/articles/porsche-...ful-1409940145

I am new to having a Porsche and have a MT. From many reviews, the PDK seems great and I'd like to try it some time (makes me wish sometimes I would've tried it before my MT purchase). I'm just an average driver, probably don't push my 911S to anywhere near it's capacity but the MT makes me feel, "I'm driving it like I hate it".

Nice article. I think it mentions that the 3.4 is dry sump...

I never even considered a PDK. Well, I test-drove a 997 with PDK but didn't get on well with it... so I ended up going with a manual, as I'd really always intended to do. I can see why others would want it, and definitely see how others would NEED it, but for me the manual is the way to go.

Just purchased a 2014 CPO C2S cab 7MT with 7500 miles in GT silver.
Sold a M4 after 2 years because it was a DCT.
It may not be faster but it sure is fun in a manual. The PSE is intoxication with the top down.

Congratulations! Check out the GT4 shifter as an upgrade. It's inexpensive and you'll wonder why it didn't come with this unit stock.

I really need to do this soon. But Nov / Dec are not long on time or extra funds. Grrrrr.

Thank u.
I looked into the SSK can't decide whether to do it or not.
The Shop I deal with in NOVA (RRT racing) tells me that getting into 1st can be tricky with SSK. I believe they are getting the parts from Suncoast.
Any advice for this newbie?

I got the car on the 15th and the next day discovered a loose panel on the driver side. I enjoyed the car for few days before taking it back to Porsche of Rockville to get it taken care of. They currently have it and I should have the car back by Thursday. I will try to take pics and post it this weekend.
Btw, not having the car is driving me crazy. I want to enjoy it before having to put it away for the winter.
