I am going to remove my GT steering wheel and send it to MACarbon. When I get back from a trip I will re-install the wheel. Is there any issue leaving the car for 2 months with the battery disconnected and no wheel?
One other source to consider for these wheels is Porsche themselves.
Porsche won't make you a thicker wheel, but they can do everything else - carbon, red stitching, red 12 oClock ring. You would need to order the wheel from Porsche Exclusive but I am pretty sure they can do it. I have seen a wheel exactly like mine but thinner at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta on display in the Porsche Exclusive lounge.
Having some issues on my end which highlights the importance of a very careful install.
The new wheel and airbag worked fine for 5 days then the airbag light came on. I took it in today and it seems the plastic tab on the clock spring that locks in the harness was broken. Probably by Hennessy during install.
I had taken it to Perimeter today because Hennessy was booked till Thursday.
So they charged me $650 to replace the clock spring. While doing this they noticed a pin on the steering wheel harness was bent. Harness isn't available as a separate part from wheel. So they are trying to fix the pin.
Can't you just wait for Hennessy? I wouldn't pay another dime after paying a dealer at dealer prices to do the install.
Glad 1) my dealer knew what he was doing when they did my wheel swap out and 2) they didn't break anything. But I agree after 1st having them almost not want to honor the precious service appt cause you bought the parts elsewhere then this would have prompted me to wait till they either A) had an appt avail or B) had made a spot for me to bring it back ASAP to fix their error! Would not have dropped $650+ at another dealer on additional fix for work that should have been done correctly and undamaged the 1st go around! That's also why I use a card for many of my auto services just in case stuff like this happens so I have some recourse on disputing the charge/service/repair on my end if done wrong or not in accordance with standards.

I probably should have but I didn't want to lose another half day at the dealership!
Also I feel like having a second dealer look at the issue has given me confidence it is properly resolved. The first guys obviously caused the problem so it doesn't give me great confidence in their ability to fix it.
Anyway if turns out these guys couldn't fix the broken pin so they had to order a new connector. So they are giving me a loaner car and will have it fixed tomorrow. They didn't want me driving off with a non functional airbag.
Sorry to hear Stealth. I'm sure they would give you a hard time anyway saying you didn't buy the parts there and they cannot warranty them as well. That they could have been compromised to start with.
At least is they ordered the parts AND did install, it would be 100% on them.

Yeah to be honest I don't care. I just wanted it sorted out. The Porsche Atlanta Perimeter people gave me a good sense they understood the issues so hopefully it will be resolved tomorrow.
The connector was not an expensive part. Perimeter is replacing it for free. The clock spring was more expensive and that has to have been broken by the Hennessy installer. Nobody else touched it.
Wow, sorry to hear about your trouble.
I was just headed to my garage to remove the new .2GT wheel in order to send it off to MACarbon to get the silver inserts done. Now I am thinking I will wait a while and consider the silver look over time. Love the wheel and faster shifting action. Did a great drive yesterday to Ojai, New Cuyama and Los Olivos.
