Quick question. Purchased carbon fiber console surround on EBay about $125. But basically is is a stick on part with tape on the back. Was expecting a “real” carbon fiber replacement not a stick on. Any thoughts?
I had a 997tt that had a lot of carbon fiber. Porsche replaced it once because it was delaminated but refused to do it a second time even though it was a CPO car (can you tell I’m still angry about that?).
Anyway… I bought quite a few pieces from DB Carbon and had good luck.
The old version of the door guides get a nasty noise. There's a new version, which as far as I can tell, is identical. The new ones don't creak.
The stamped part number ends in 00 for the old one, and 01 for the revised version.
LOL, first I've heard of the "eldritch creak," and both of my 991.1 doors open quietly. My door guides look exactly like yours.
Anyone care to explain?

Thanks, I just checked, and my door guides are quiet 00s on a '14 TTS w/ 47K miles.
My drivers door has a distinct double click sound as it opens... is this the same as you had @itbme?
Mine is 2013 C2S
Mostly creaking/rubbing sound, but the video I do hear some clicking. I attached a video, hopefully it works.
The creaking happens at the first stop as you pass it, and the last stop as you approach it.
I have the first valved PSE muffler for the 991.2 from Soul Performance Parts! I just got my car back from them today (my car was used to develop the muffler).

I think what you're calling a "double click" is the sound of the two stops designed to hold the door in two positions as you progress to full-open. That's a normal sound. However, I wouldn't call it either a "click" or a "creak."
If I push my door further forward at the full open position like in post #8845, I can make it creak, but it's not supposed to go any further. Why would anyone want to rock their door like that?

Yup! I had the first versions on my 2013 991.1 C2S and they creaked! I got the updated ones and really couldn't any physical differences. They have been creak free for 2 years. And yes I lubed etc the original ones and they always eventually creaked.
These new versions may have a different plastic or something that doesn't creak?
Installed the sport lip. Install was easy, just remove 2 center torx bolts in the middle of the old lip, and rip out. New lip just clips on using no bolts.
