Socket deactivated

That particular message is related to battery. Check V level. I'm guessing if you drive some, you won't see the message again unless the level is dropping / draining. When I had a dead battery last year that message came up just before I lost all voltage for startup.

This exactly what it is. Your battery is draining and car is cutting off power to all non essentials in order to save power.

Just make sure it is holding charge. You can have service take a look at it to determine if any cells are gone on it. In my case, although battery died and I had to jump the car to start after only about 18 months, there was nothing wrong with the battery.... I took it to the service guys and they checked it out. After I ran the charge up everything was fine and I haven't had the problem since.

I thin I also got a message other than socket deactivated which included low battery. Lastly in addition I hear a whining noise from the top right side of the engine (left hand car).
I suppose I have to take it into the dealer, but if you have suggestions I would love to hear.
Lastly can one have a mecanic change the battery or does any computer have to reset the tech 991.1 S?
Thanks all.

Do you have a battery tender on your car? If you are only driving it a few times per month, it's a must have.

Recently there has been a number of 2014s reporting new batteries and the Duracell Ultra Platinum AGM has been popular as a lower-cost alternative to the OEM one. I used that in my prior 2014 last fall and it worked well.
There is a good thread or two with how-to's and more info in the forum... here's probably the best one:
