Default 991 2 weeks old and keyed

so my 991 C4 is two weeks old and 530 miles on the clock. and now has a nice key gouge in the drivers door thanks to a vandal that hit r medical center marking lot today and got me, and five of my employees cars. Was pissed, but realized that life goes on. But it still stings.

I wired a dash cam in my car that would monitor it when I was gone. Might not stop them but it may have caught a pic of the perp.

It sucks that people are like that

I feel your pain. Happened to my Audi once.
Those idiots are jealous and are probably lacking so much in life that this gives them joy.
I curse them that they will suffer a bigger mishap in life!!

that sucks ... kust out of curiosity. Does that got keyed, do you have a personalized plate? One of the reasons I did not get a personalized plate on the P-car is that I did not want to upset anyone leading to my car being keyed.

Steve, do you mind telling me generally where your office is? I live in southern MoCo.

We're in the same club, my 991 was keyed just a few weeks after I got it. But life went on.
Depending on the severity you have options. A local body shop I'd used before told me the passenger door needed a respray for $600. The money wasn't outrageous but I didn't relish paintwork that early.
A friend in the exotic car repair biz gave me the number of a guy who did touch up repairs for them. He came to my office and determined the damage was all in the clearcoat. He dabbed some clear paint into the deepest part if the scratch then wet sanded and polished. The fix was easily 95% or better. I know where it was but no one else has ever noticed it. You may well have a similar service in your area.

That sucks ... hopefully will not happen again. They should have cameras on that lot, or I would consider putting one in the car that is motion activated in case it is a vengeful patient or former employee who may return.

When I traded my 991 for a Ferrari I went and had the entire car wrapped in XPel ... it cost a small fortune but it's much less expensive to rewrap a panel than to repaint one. A local guy had his new black GT3 wrapped and sure enough some sonofabitch tried to key it and the wrap protected the paint along the entire side.

It's still possible to get at the paint under the wrap but the detailer said you would have to really bear down and gouge at it.

Funny thing was on the way home from picking up the car I took a nasty hit on the hood from something on the highway ... and it tore the wrap. But the paint was fine. I probably would have been painting the hood otherwise.

Had the entire side of a new BMW keyed a few years ago. A week later the other side was keyed in a different location. Since then I haven't taken my nicer cars to parking lots before they had the plates on. Also seems cars with darker paint attract this more, perhaps because the keying shows better. I have a cheap white Ford escape I now drive whenever I'm unsure of the location.

As a side note, my SA told me in a different conversation that if they have to paint more than one body panel for any reason (including keying), the car can't be CPOed.
Anyone else hear that?
And, that sucks. I drive my Tundra to the hospital 99.99% of the time.
