OMG man, it's just a car! Not only that, it's incredibly easy to do!

Changing the oil yourself - or by someone who is not a Porsche dealer - will not void the warranty. Just keep your receipts to prove that you had it done or did it yourself.

My car jst had an oil change done 3 weeks ago. Last week had a spot of oil and figured I better keep an eye on it. Today another spot. Called dealer & they said they have had at least 6 911"s recently with casting issues on oil pan and or drain plugs. My car is a 2016. Anyone else hear anything about this?

I have changed my oil twice already, and I enjoy it. The engine gets new oil more often, I save a few bucks, and I don't have to worry about this stuff.

I haven't heard of this issue but I do know that a couple times when I changed my oil (I do it myself) and I just tightened the drain plug "tight enough" by my own "feel" (like I've done all my life on other cars) that it did indeed drip after a while. When double checked with a torque wrench at 34ft lbs I could get another 1/8th turn or more out of it. I am amazed at how tight it really needs to be. That washer is hard to crush, apparently.

I seriously doubt that the dealer tech uses a torque wrench. Maybe his "feel" is off as well.

Torque on drain plug should be 37 ft/lb or 50 Nm.

Yep, thanks for catching the typo. Fat fingers. Small buttons.
