Default 991.2 - rear steering, over boost for 120 secs and more

New story in Autobild magazine reporting some interesting new features on the 991.2 that I don't think have been reported before. They are also reporting that it sounds good too.

- increase of 20bhp from the current models, (though my SA is still adamant that the S is 430hp and increase of 30); 500Nm torque available from 1700 rpm with a redline of 7500 rpm;
- an Overboost button, which lasts for 120 seconds cuts the 0-100km/h by 0,2s to 4,3s for the Carrera and 4,0s for the Carrera S;
- PASM can lower the car up to 20mm in Sport Plus;
- new steering wheel button has an Individual mode to save the driver preferences; (at last!)
- Chrono Plus Package gets all-wheel steering from the Turbo; (this will be interesting!)
- front lift function, up to 50mm (Ilike that)
- PCM has multi-touch (again my SA is adamant that it will support Appleplay)

The rear wheel steering in an S is an interesting idea. Could make an already nimble car outstanding...

Looks like Sports Chrono might be even more of a must have for 2017.

A lot of good features if they work out. I am guessing Porsche is being conservative in their numbers, both with HP and times. The S already breaks the 4.0 sec to 60 with launch, guess the new one will be in the 3.6 - 3.8 range.

Are you saying the 991.2 is going to have adjustable ride height?

Probably just the pneumatic front lift system like on the GT3. There is no way Porsche will fit an air suspension system like the ones on the Cayenne and Macan, since it is nearly impossible to achieve the spring rate and damping quality that is needed on the 911.

Nor do I see the possibility of installing a set of height adjustable coilover like on the GT3, considering the model hierarchy.

Not Sport Chrono, its Sport Chrono Plus if you want RAS. Options on top of options.

Imagine if they had done like I wanted and made RAS an option on today's GTS. What a car that would have been!

Here is a link to the story http://www.autobild.de/artikel/porsc...t-5869319.html

They are reporting a weight of 1475kg for the Carrera S.

One other item I missed is there will apparently be a factory tuning kit boosting Carrera S to 450 hp. Now that will be tasty.

Good catch on the weight. Huh ..

The front aero's will close after 9mph then open again at a higher speed. I think something like 80mph+. The details were posted somewhere.

All the other points and the info in here were mentioned in one of the seven 991.2 threads. I believe the same article was quoted.

PASM -10mm
SPASM - additional 10mm

Fixed. Won't be air suspension that can raise/lower

60 lbs is a lot. It's like a big bag of gravel

Yes and no. I bet the sunroof option, and worse the glass sunroof, weights even more and have more detrimental effects on the handling given the location of those weight than comparing to some extra some weight down low at the engine bay.

60lbs would be significant for a stripped down GT3, less so with a street orientated Carrera. I highly doubt anyone here can tell the difference in handling unless you have the skills to drive these things at 10/10 pace on a track.

Plus, we can always go on a diet to get some extra weight saving.

If the mules are an indication, it looks as though the 'S' will have the GT3 PCCB brakes, which makes me wonder if it will also have the GT3 steels as default

I am told that the 991.2 C2S has an exhaust note very reminiscent of an American hot rod.

Sort of a deep throaty growl, very much unlike the current iteration of the 991 TT/TTS exhaust note, which in stock form sounds like a balloon with a hole in it slowly leaking out air.
