Are you in the market for a new car?

So what's your point? Spend your money as you please. Want a Vette or 718, those forums exist too. A frugal investor would think we're all nuts here

I could care less about Beanie Baby collectibles too, hence I don't know where to go and complain about those

I can't believe you don't care about Beanie Babies. Now you've gone too far, STG. And I think you mean you couldn't care less. If you don't know where to complain about your concern regarding valuable American collectibles, why not start here, in the HFS forum?

I'm not seeing 2015 991.1 prices at $100k like Selo says. IMO, a nicely optioned 2015 C2S with low miles is in the mid to upper $80s with something like $125k MSRP or $130k with PDK. Not much more for a C4S. Maybe its $90k if CPO and under 10,000 miles. That's maybe 30-35% off new MSRP. Nicely optioned 991.2 or 718 CS or GT4 can not be bought for that. I know. I looked at all of them.

And, your point? You're starting to sound salty that the market values these cars as it does. Don't worry, we've all been there, and we clearly found reason for said valuation. Back in 2013 an M6 was more expensive than a Base Carrera. Now, you can probably buy two 2013 M6's for the price of 1 .1 Base Carrera. The lack of .1 deprecation is for good reason.

Do you want the last of the N/A Carrera's? Arguably the best N/A Carrera of all time? Then the .1 is it, stamped in time. That may not mean something to you, but it does to a lot of people.

I've tried to like these cars enough to buy one, but as I said in my original post, for me, the value just isn't there. I'm pretty happy with my 981 Spyder, and I have an allocation for a GT3 manual. Along with my Shelby GT500 and Jeep, once I have the GT3, I'm feeling pretty complete. But truthfully, the performance of the base Carrera now is so good, that I'm considering going this route instead. But I just can't see my way to buying a really nice used 991.1 right now, especially something like a GTS, at the current values. Now, in two or three years, when they get down into the 50 or 60 thousand range, then we might be talking. They're great cars, but my whole point is, right now, the values are still too high for me to justify buying one, when the new base Carrera is so good. Thanks.

My friend, 997.2 GTS’s won’t ever see those prices!!

So you’re saying that 991.1 GTS’s will drop 50% in value in 2-3 years?

Let move on from this subject. Literally adding “little value†here. This value speculation crystal ball is all subjective at this point. Would like to deal in the here and now. That’s all that matters for current shoppers. Not what happened 3 years ago or what 2025 will look like.

How about some NEW cars to post?? That’s a novel idea. Saw like 3 nice 991.1’s in our own classified section here last night!! Plan on looking into them and posting them. Looked like nice ones. Didn’t look at pricing too close.

STG, right on. This thread has lost some of its' intent. Let's move away from each other's ideas of values, past or future and deal in the present with the current crop of "for sale" 991.1!
Further discussions like the recent posts should be in the regular 991 section. This is HFS!!!

^^^ YES

There are plenty of guys looking for a 991.1 to buy TODAY. They could care less about all the other noise.

When I post cars, I do so with them being examples of the best that’s available here and now. Not what things looked like two years ago or what they might look like two years from now.

Will find a few to post later today.

This.

I have lost many good cars trying to negotiate an extra $1k or whatever. I've even lost a car after I had a deposit on it....

Especially if you find a car that hits all your buttons. Just jump on it and enjoy.

On the flip side: if you buy a good car, spend a little extra. You will get your money back when you re-sell. Plus get to enjoy a better car while you own it.

WP0AB2A9XFS124801

From the RL classifieds. Low miles >> 1,900

I LOVE this build. Quite perfect. The Sport Design Edition comes with SC and PSE (not listed on build sheet). A few other small cosmetic things too.

As far as $$$ ..... ummmmmm .. I’d personally like to be around $35K off MSRP.

Well, since you brought it up, yes. Take a peak at the 997 GTS ads on Autotrader.

To add a comment to the current value conversation, it seems everything is up right now. About 6 years ago I sold a lowish mile 997.1 turbo for $75k. Today the car would be worth basically the same money. Depending on the industry you're in, that market stability might be a good thing. When shopping for commodities, especially collectable ones, it's very frustrating...

Take it to another forum

We’re really getting off topic here

I traded in my 14 C4S a few weeks ago, its for sale for $86k at a dealer in Chicago. $132k MSRP. 16k miles, immaculate, performance spec.

So here's $85k C4S example somebody could jump on.

They're out there just need to find them.
