I read this thread every single day, love it. But, I feel like my unicorn might not even exist right now; RWD GTS, Manual, Duck tail (no added second spoiler) 991.1
Any color but white/silver. It's a good thing I'm patient, haha. But, I love that so many other people are finding the car they want, through this amazing thread and the camaraderie.
Porsche South Bay has this car in agate. 119k asking I believe.
Here is what I think is a more reasonable GTS, with some flaws. But good color combo. No Alcantara - full black leather, black alu trim (somebody should crosspost these pics to the 991.2 GT3 thread). Back leather sport design steering wheel.
Miles could be closer to 10k for the price but doesn't look beaten.
Somebody managed to order this with no subwoofer audio at all (not even Bose). 14-ways with all the options from Premium Plus, centerlock wheels. Control scheme is PKD+SC+sportdesign/paddles. CPO, warranty should last to June 2021.
If I ordered a GTS new I would probably not order the centerlocks...I have winter tires on Carrera S wheels that I swap out in my garage on my 991S every Fall and Spring...
Not that I couldn't do that with Centerlocks, I suppose...but it sure is a lot easier with 5 lugs per wheel!
And nothing against the GTS - great packages and if I was looking CPO, I would definitely be looking at GTS's.
But S w/powerkit is a great value. I can take or leave the GTS wide body style (narrow is lighter, anyways ). Actually, I prefer leather and ventilated seats over alcantara, too. Shoot, I primarily love the GTS for the engine!
Just for the sake of the argument, I just requested an on line appraisal of my car (2014 C4S PDK, MRSP 132k, 22k miles, selected "perfect condition" despite the fact it has a couple of paint marks on the hood, but selected "not new tires") if I were to trade in for the cicero red GTS, valuation came in at 69,237. That would mean it would cost me 45-50k to "upgrade" to the GTS ("best car", more power, one year younger, less miles, etc.).
Apart from the fact that there are things I would arguably miss with the change (not into the aerokit, don't want center locks, RWD vs 4WD, manual vs PDK, no ventilated seats, etc.), it wouldn't make any financial sense for me to go out of pocket this amount to basically have "a similar car somewhat newer". I understand resale value could bring back some of this amount if/when I sold the GTS, but there are too many ifs there...
Even if I got a discount of 10% on the asking, I would be about 35k out of pocket, that might bring me close to the fence, but with the current prices... no way.
Aside from my particular situation, one can "choose" to buy a 2015 S with a similar configuration/mileage than this GTS for 80-85k plus taxes or one like this one for 110-115k plus taxes... around 30k would be the difference... Unless the wide body is key, I think I would stick to the S as well... but that's me and maybe I am cheap and not a true "aficionado".
^^ yes, that's always been the case. You can relate best "value" upstream or downstream. The GTS's have a nice following and we like to feature ones in the $110K range.
I predict the GTS's will continue to outperform the S/4S variants though in depreciation.
Regardless, a big following for the 991.1 GTS and a decent price point in the $110K range.
I could use that same exercise for a 991.2 GT3. Is it really worth over double the $ than my current car optioned like I'd want it? Would I get that much more enjoyment out of it as a "fun" non daily driver car? For me? Probably not as this time. All a personal call though.
Now if I was considering a NEW 991.2 GTS or S for like $145K, I'd EASILY spend a little extra for a 991.2 GT3 HANDS DOWN. I see no value in the "new" Carrera models which tank in initial deprecation as we see and the upgrade to a GT3 is huge.
So many examples we can use. Everyone is in a different situation regarding lifestyle, family, finances, age, etc ..... Go with your gut and common sense.
Appreciating different models, doesn't make me like my car any less.
