HOT FOR SALE: Pick of the Week 991
#7261
Forget about the 'depreciation table' method of valuing a 991.1... Way too many variables on condition, build, and desirable options. This thread also has really great comparative info from other cars both for sale and sold, much more accurate than a pure accountants view.
Looks like a nice build, low miles, and a pretty decent price at $70.5K. $65K would be a steal for that build, no carfax blems and the miles. If you can get them to cover the $800 in fees, I'd say go for it if you like the car!

^^^ well said. That depreciation table should be taken with a grain of salt. I would never reference it. It's too generic and not accurate for reasons described. It's a fluid sales market out there.

Not for me, of course...I still haven't found anything I would prefer over my black beauty (and I am really not looking!), but for someone it could be a very special car!

What would you guys offer considering the "dirty carfax?"
Accident history with unknown specifics... -20% from a clean carfax example.
If there are details on the repair, it is relatively minor, and a top quality repair... -10%
Salvage title... -40%
If your sure you won't be reselling the car for many years, it doesn't make as much difference. But Porsches with accident history get super-lowballed on trade-in and are hard to sell privately, especially without documentation on the damage and repairs.

Also, if it's going to be a long term keeper. With minor damage, and documented, shouldn't be a long term issue. For all we know, could just have been some bumper damage with that getting replaced. Or it could have been more? We need details.
Anyone call them? I tried few times yesterday, phone line was busy.

$73,000 asking price. The day after test driving it, I offered $67,500 (plus about $800 in dealer fees). They called back with $70,500.
...
Using the "Depreciation table" from another thread it shows a 5 year old car should be 54% of new price which is $63,474. The table allows an added 5% for only 5,000 miles a year so if I assume 2,000 mile a year is worth 6.5%, that would be $67,600.
...
This car is near what I want. ...
I wouldn't mind waiting a few more months and finding something with the SD steering wheel, PSE and maybe some more leather that hasn't spent a month or more in the rain for a few more $$$ but I don't want to spend much over $75k.

It is a 5 year car, despite the mileage, and it doesn't seem to fit 100% of your criteria (PSE+SD wheel, at least should have multimedia).
If I were you, I would up your initial offer by 1k and tell them it is final, and would be ready to walk away if they don't take it.

The "perfect" pre-owned build rarely happens. One needs to be flexible or be a lifetime shopper. There are always trade-offs.
Wait and pay $10K more for another car?? Always a gamble. That's the fun of it. The reason why guys keep coming back here even after a purchase

Depends extent of damage. Seems to me, the CarFax has been factored into the price.

Yes, how can you do a PPI if there is a clear bra? Maybe check underneath to see what other parts were replaced? It is an interesting car but that Carfax report is just too odd, given that it was damaged even before it was built???? Someone knows and is not talking.

RAC had no explanation for the odd CarFax? what a bummer, because that is a sweet car!

Hello all!!
I'm getting interested in a car that is local to me and wanted to tap the knowledge base here for any opinions.
The car is at Hendrick Chevy in Cary NC despite a Hendrick Porsche dealer being a few miles away.

2012.5 Silver C2S with 9,700 miles. $117,545 build with most of the desired options except PSE. Two owners, first was almost a 3 year lease and the second owned it for about a year. Clean carfax. $73,000 asking price. The day after test driving it, I offered $67,500 (plus about $800 in dealer fees). They called back with $70,500.
