I looked at the CarMax GTS today and it's pretty slick. Has a few light scratches, but a front license plate bracket that turned me off. Otherwise the car is in great shape.

Front license plate holes are fixable. I would suggest to anyone who is seriously interested to put a hold on it. Then find a way to go there or check with your local CarMax if other options are available
This illustrates how auto sales has become a tough megabuck business with tremendous competition.
Two Porsche dealerships i'm aware of illustrate whats happening in the franchised Porsche dealership arena across the country.:
Terry Taylor is building a huge new mega-buck Porsche dealership in South Orlando. It will be a multi-floor dealership Automotive News says he owns more dealerships than any other non-publicly traded owner.
In Westmont, IL Ed Napleton Porsche bought the Maserati dealership next door and is building out a huge multifloor Porsche dealership building from one building to the other.
Its my understanding that both dealerships will have auto elevators with cars upstairs.
Porsche production is somewhat allocation limited, so with dealers like these expanding so much, it is going to be tough for smaller Porsche dealers to maintain their allocations.

This is exactly what my local dealer is facing, they are very small but a good dealership. They only get 2-3 GT3 allocations a year and over 30 people on a list. Makes it hard for people to develop relationships in hope of getting an allocation versus buying from a larger dealer.
Hey guys/gals! I been following for several years and have gotten a little more serious regarding a purchase of my first Porsche. I would like to get into a white or agate grey or GT silver cab pdk. Base is fine with me.
Not expecting a lot of traffic on this but wanted to say hi to all and see where this goes! : ))
Anyone ever actually bought a car from carmax? Do they have a warranty?
I've bought several cars from Carmax including 3 Porsches. They often don't realize what they have or the desirability of certain options so you can find some pretty good deals if you know the market and act quick. They also have some things laughably overpriced as they don't realize what they don't have. Since they are no haggle, overpriced cars sit and drop a grand or two per month until they sell.. sometimes taking several months and multiple locations before they settle to market price.
Their warranties are fulfilled by third party companies (like Fidelity) and can be used at the dealer. I just used my MaxCare (Fidelity) warranty to replace the supercharger tensioner on my ZR1. Their warranties are pretty cheap too. My ZR1 warranty was only 2k for 5 years.
That said, the downside is they don't treat the cars very well. They will treat a 911 Turbo S the same as a Kia. Automatic car washes, dirty towels, touch ups done by novices etc. If they only had the car a couple of weeks, you should be able to make it look nice again after full clay bar, polishing, detail, paint touchup etc, but for the love of god.. don't ever let them do any touchups while you are doing paperwork. If they've had the car longer, like multiple months and locations, expect the condition to be very poor. I've had to forfeit the transfer fee on a few black cars that were too far gone.
Oh, they don't allow PPIs either, but they do have 5 day return. I always schedule a PPI within those 5 days and demand they fix everything the dealer finds or I return the car. They are very agreeable to fix anything including maintenance items at their cost during those first 5 days, not so much after that.
