I could be completely wrong but I just think it's too long of a sales period to announce either a facelift or a major overhaul. Everyone who does even a minor amount of research will either want to wait or expect a major discount. All of the ordered cars will be stale when they show up. Just seems efficient and porsche like to see off the 991.1 with a GTS and keep the excitement in the line then introduce the facelift as a 2016 model going on sale after the first or second quarter of 15.

I was at my dealer Friday and he told me about it after I asked him about the GTS. He said they are not allowed any electronics in the meeting room, so I would think some info would be forthcoming.

So no, I'm on the outside looking in too.

When sales of the existing model begin to slide, a facelift will make sense. Basic marketing.
Orders of 2015 Carreras have been strong the past couple of months according to the latest issues of PCA Panorama magazine.

I bet you are correct also! I thought that I read they were not going to call it a 991.2 and just call it the 992 also. It's the same platform but with a mild refresh however they have also always increased the power every time they had done a refresh. That is why I said the base car will go from 350HP to atleast 360-365HP and the S model should go to 410-415HP with the new refresh! Now we all know that the GTS will have the X-51 package stock which adds 30HP exactly so my guess is the new GTS will either have 440-445HP, and somehow they may even get that number to 450HP just because it sounds better! Well I have my fingers crossed and can't wait for more information to leak out!!!

Lastly I do believe they will have the rear axle steering as standard on the new GTS also!

Dont forget the 991 started manufacture as a MY2012 in 2011. Also note that the MY2016 production will start in Q2CY1015 ...

anyway I'm pretty convinced that a 991 GTS will be launched in L.A dont know about the facelift component ... we will have to wait and see.

Personally I really hope not, that would be a deal breaker for me; I would not mind the GT3 steering s/w or the PDK-S revision, but I have no interest in the RWS, (like PDCC, perhaps less so) it's technology that does not solve a problem I am interested in solving or paying for; I guess we will see what appears in 2 months.

Also note that to do this, would require significant additional engineering on the GTS to retrofit such, as opposed to the simple 'parts bin' approach that previous GTS models have taken, and would probably put price/feature pressure on the GT3.

I would lower expectations. The GTS is just another variant to capture sales and that's what VW group wants Porsche to do faster than they did before. Wide body, powerkit, alcantara, centerlocks. Seriously doubt RWS and PDK-S given Cab variants are almost a certainty.

that's entirely my expectation also... I very much doubt Porsche would take the trouble to do the extra engineering involved when the GTS has previously essentially "parts bin" packaging...

I agree with you on the power, 440 would be my guess. I think it will be a tad higher than the X51 just to set it apart. 4 wheel steering, maybe, could be an option. I just hope that 5 lug wheels are an option as well. This may just be my next P car.

just note that on the previous GTS they did not increase the power from the X51, and they did offer 5-lug as an option ... I basically expect it to be a 50th
without the anniversary ...
