Not to rehash an old issue however, I was just searching for threads on headlight cracks as I seem to have developed one. I posted in one of the other forums however it may be in the wrong place. I'll copy the post here. Any feedback is appreciated.
"I'm new to this forum board so if this is in the completely wrong place, I apologize. I was just hoping for some advice with regards to a headlight crack I have noticed recently. It does not appear to have been caused by a rock or physical impact as there is no palpable defect. The headlight is completely smooth to the touch and not even a small abrasion. I have seen some cases were things somewhat like these have been warrantied. What's your opinion? I hate to pay an obscene amount of money to replace this headlight if it was in fact atraumatic and potentially a manufacturing defect of sorts. I'm no expert here so just looking for feedback and what some of you would do in my shoes. Thanks in advance"
Nice job using the "search" function.
I saw your other post too. That does not look like a crack. Are you sure? Maybe just a scuff. Is it on the outer headlight assembly or inside on the projector lens (warranty for sure)? Hard to tell from photo. If just on the outside of the assembly, maybe a little wax will remove the scuff. If actually cracked, best you can hope for is an insurance comprehensive claim (because you probably hit a moving/flying object.....not collision because you probably did not hit a stationary object on the roadway).
definitely a crack in the outer casing. I would have expected to feel something on the outside if it hit something. Just very strange. Thanks for the input

What year is your 991? Ask the dealership to cover under warranty. Do asap before it gets worse.
Took my car to Brumos Porsche and they contacted the Porsche representative who agreed to replace the headlight under warranty. Very thankful as I know they could have argued this
I saw this post last year and after reading it went out to check my car and found no problems. Yesterday washing the car noticed some fogging inside one headlight and then noticed the small cracks forming. Took car to dealer today and they said they would get back to me if under warranty . Hope it is the part is over $2000.... Anyone else have the problem lately and what was the out come ? Thanks
I had the same issue when my 14 C2S was delivered from a dealer out of state. I went to my local p dealer and it was covered under factory warranty, no questions or hassles.
Hi, I also started to have cracks on the headlights of my 991. Anybody knows what could be the reason for this. Both of them are cracking, although one is more visible done the other? Is this a manufacture's fault? Mine is a 2014 model. Thank you.

holly hell that's unfortunate and hopefully covered under warranty

Yes, its manufacturing defect, mine were replaced under warranty, 2014 model.
they really should design the headlights for replaceable lenses.
I too had delamination on mine. Noticed it after the clear bra install. still replaced under warranty. My SA told me they have seen new cars on arrival with delamination.
Thank you for your replies. Have Porsche ever explained why is this happening? Is it a defect only affecting some cars, or is due to any particular conditions such as heat?
Also, have any of you faced this issue twice, being replaced and then happening again?
