Default 50th Anniversary sales stats/colour/PDK

I kind of arrived late to the 50th party so lost my chance to order via configurator and none of the dealers in SE UK had any in stock so I expanded the net going as far as Ireland (who were not allocated any). A friend in Switzerland also asked me to find him one with the right colour (geyser) & options so the net kept getting bigger and bigger as there were no geysers in Switzerland. To cut a long story short I managed to find one for me in LHD & him RHD, but at the same time I had a lot of data from various dealers and online sources so decided to go the whole way and try and catch details on as many 50th as I can, yes I did use the data on the rennlist registration too (around 40 cars). Today I have 205 50th models on record that can be identified by VIN, LE number, registration plate or seller. I don't have full data on primary options such as interior colour, G/B type or sunroof and I never bothered to collect data on SPASM and such options.

Anyway I shall churn out some numbers that might be of interest to memebers, let me know if there is something specific and I shall post if I can.

Here is the data pool;
Total cars made = 1964 = 1963 + 1 at Porsche museum
Total cars = 205
Cars with a country tag = 200
Cars with a colour tag = 205
Cars with a G/Box tag = 101
cars with LE no = 76 + 0000 at Porsche museum
Lowest LEN on file = 100
Highest LEN on file = 1963

That must have been a lot of work! Interesting numbers, thank you for collecting and sharing! I'll ask my dealer for reliable info about the swiss sales, when I'm at the Porsche Center next time.

Thanks Mondrian for compiling this - interesting to see all the numbers.

Hopefully we can get more data - let's encourage everyone we know to register their 50th on the Rennlist registry.
I can add one more Cdn car that I know of - to be picked up via ED in 10 days or so - it is Graphite (sorry I don't know GB type or LE number).

I am a researchoholic so didn't feel like work!

It would be great if you could get some confirmed numbers, here is what I have from Porsche annual report; 2012 = a total of 826 sports (mid & rear engine) sold out of total 2030 cars. 2013 no specific 911 or sports data but total reported is 2229 with strong growth for 911 reported. So I think actual 911 sales for 2013 in Switzerland is around 700 (+/-10%) which would translate to 48 x 50th cars.

That figure could well be higher as US had 10% less cars than their 34.6% 911 market share deserved, on the other hand I don't expect new markets such as Asia & Africa would have picked up their natural allocation either. So where did these cars go - my bet is on Germany, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Canada & possibly GB so it could well be more than 48.

I only add them to the list if there is a registration plate, Limited edition number, VIN or dealer name that can set it apart from other cars so as to avoid duplicate entries so please let me know once you have more info on the car.

PS - your posts from the ED was a source of joy & motivation whenever I got fed up with all the number crunching.

I have focused on the 50th so don't have info on other 991 varieties but total worldwide sales for 911 in 2012 was 25457 & 2013 came up as 30205 as confirmed by Porsche - some media report other numbers as high as over 40000 but its wrong.

You can get an idea of the rough ratio by looking up cars for sale in your country (such as cars.com), limit your search to 911 up to 2 years old & count C2 vs C2S. Also check our Porsche.com and search national inventory for new & used too. Good luck and let me know how you get on.

I'm curious if anyone has the residuals for the 50th anniversary models. I've found a few sitting around.

Congradulations Canada. You seem to be the first "main market" that has totally ran out of 50th. None of the 15 porsche dealers have any 50th in their new or used inventory and autotrader.ca doesn't show up any either. This is surprising as you guys had a higher 50th allocation than your neighbours, 7.6% compared to US which had 5.6% (50th to 2013 total 911 sales). 83% manual too - have you all gone 50th crazy?

Supply & demand dynamics suggest that your car is probably worth more now than what you paid for it or atleast have the lowest depretiation of any other country unless you can pop over to your neighbours and pick one up.

BTW thank you all for thanking me. As the head of my own company I push numbers around and do a lot of great little projects all the time but no one ever really thanks me - I like it.
