Default loud brakes

I have brand new 991 with 200 miles. At every stop sign or red light my brakes make loud noise. I have tried going fast and slamming on brakes. Does anybody have any other suggestions? thanks

Already covered a bunch of times.

It's a performance car with high performance brakes. Noise is the compromise.

hankinjax-the brakes need to be bedded in.

Do eight to ten 65-5mph hard brakes in row, that will quiet them down.

Lex is right, its a situation where the most high performance brake pads are also the most likely to squeal, so Porsche uses ones a little less high performance and a lot less likely to squeal, but its just not possible to eliminate. Squeal is caused when the pads bite, slip and bite again, typically a couple thousand times a second which is why we hear this ~3kHz squeal. You might ask your dealer about chamfering the pads (bevel the edges) or try anti-squeal adhesive, but really, no guarantees. The only sure fire cure is to spend a lot of time at the track. The more you use your brakes the more you'll appreciate them and the less you'll care if they occasionally make a little noise.

Do PCCB squeal the same as regular steel brakes? If not I would seriously consider an upgrade to ceramics.

For over $18,000 in OE parts? No way in hell. I can live with a little noise. And brake dust.

If there's one thing we can learn from all the links Lex, I sure hope it is the lesson that worse, much worse, than brakes that squeal like Ned Beatty in Deliverance- worse even than brakes that squeal like a NY taxi- are "breaks" that "squeak". Squeaky breaks are the worst.

Speaking of ceramics, how much more is a brake job (pads and rotors) on a ceramic equiped 991 as compared to regular when its time to change them?

Mine are driving me nuts. The squeeeek when the car rolls at slow speed. I've tried a couple of 70 to 5 mph brake slams. Slightly abated. Any suggestions?

you can wash your brakes every 100 miles and you won't hear the squeal.

And even worse than problems with your "breaks" are problems with your tire "thread." "My thread is so worn I can almost see cords." "I think these new tires have a different thread compound." "I love the thread pattern on my Nitto Invos. It's so kewl!"

As for the brakes, the solution is to run around town on Pagid RS29s for a while. Race pads on the street are so noisy that they make your German sports car sound like a garbage truck or city bus. And I love it! Then switch back to the OEM pads and the little bit of noise will seem minimal.

991 pccb only squeal when soaked wet, other than that you'll get all its wonder for both on and off track.

I think it's an order of magnitude of 8-10 times more for PCCB Pads/Rotors than Steel. Steel should be less than $2k and I've heard PCCB as much as $15k to $18k. In Canada the rotors alone are over $3,100 each.
